so my leaves are a dark hue of green and they seem to be drooping, this is 3 weeks of growth and i need some help diagnosing my plants..
running a ebb and flow hydro, with 200 W LED lights. been feeding it veg+bloom and five 15 min grow cycles with lights off every night

strains: auto berry ryder, auto biodiesel mass
week 3

clearly from the strains you can tell i'm a first time grower.. haha

WHat is you PPm and PH levels?..looks like a bit of over fert to me.......but they do not look that bad.

They're orange on litmus (5-6 ph) I don't have a ppm tester :(( is there other methods of testing that? (though I feel its highly unlikely without a probe hehe)

IMO, they are fine. Chasing nonexistent or minor "problems" is a great way to develop actual problems.

The droopy leaves could be from overwatering. Why do you water them at night? Try feeding/watering them during the day/

What EC are they getting?

I was more worried about the red stem in pic 4, that plant is growing at an angle and has multiple red stems. I meant to write that I water them during the day but disable the lights at night. I don't have a ppm tester yet, but the pH is 5-6

MYOB is right they look fine, don't make a problem out of what seems to be a healthy plant...and red stems are probably a character trait of that strain...my blue rhino has red stems but big beautiful green leaves...and droop can come from anything as little as taking a nap (light out) for 4 to 6 hours, they perk right back up...that's why I do an 18/6 for my veg...good luck and nice looking for a noob...lol and welcome to RIU

Seems to me that your nutes are too strong, and you're burning them, for hydro it's very important to know the ppm's of your nutes, I'd suggest getting a TDS meter soon, use this chart as a guide.

PPM for Hanna Chart PPM

Seedlings, Early Sprouts ........100 to 250 = .2 to .5 EC
Early Vegging ......................300 to 400 = .6 to .8 EC
Full Vegetation .....................450 to 700 = .9 to 1.4 EC
Early Blooming ......................750 to 950 = 1.5 to 1.9 EC
Full Mature Blooms ................1000 to 1600 = 2 to 3.2 EC

Dark green leaves, weak stems, and overall slow growth. Marijuana leaves that are nitrogen toxic often get "The Claw" or talon-like leaves that are bent at the ends. The also do a weird curving / cupping that is often mistaken for overwatering, but is unique to nitrogen toxicity. You can this leaf "clawing" pictured to the right and below (click each picture for a close-up). Leaves that turn into claws often start turning yellow and dying if the nitogen toxicity is not treated, much like a nitrogen deficiency, only the leaves will continue to get more and more clawed. Leaves eventually turn yellow or brown and fall off. You can tell if yellowing is caused by too much nitrogen because the rest of the plant will be dark green, and the yellowing leaves will turn into claws first.
Different strains react differently to nitrogen toxicity. Some plants get dark green leaves with no clawing. Some strains will get leaves that do the weird 90 degree bend at the tips, while other strains or individual plants start curling like claws and then turn yellow / brown and fall off like a deficiency. Yet these are all signs of too much nitrogen.
Reduce the Nitrogen your plant is getting!
Reduce the amount of nitrogen that is being fed to the plants. If you are feeding extra nutrients, cut down. If you are in the flowering / budding stage, make sure you're using a formula that's specifically meant for flowering, or else it will have too much nitrogen.
If you are not feeding extra nutrients, you may have "hot" soil that has been supplementing with extra nutrients. In that case, flush your plants with filtered, pH'ed water to help leech out the extra nitrogen.
Effected leaves likely won't recover, but you should stop seeing the problem spread to more parts of the plant.

Thanks rinkstein, deetee, and Bullwink. You guys have been very insightful. They are in 5 gallon pots, and they perked up during the light period. I didn't realize how much personality these plants have. And you're right deetee, I've noticed some yellow spots which might be strong nutes. Is it possible to dilute the reservoir or should I just flush it and use new water?

I agree you may be overwatering. Also autos do best in 5 gal pots

Also out of curiosity, is it possible to induce early bloom on autos by going 12/12 and a slight incremental increase of nutes and CO2?

If and wen I accidently mix my nute too strong I just keep adding water 'till the ppm's drop to desied number if that's what you're asking, or you could dump your res and mix a new batch, it's up to you.
