First Time Grower - Plant is small and very bushy, do I need to intervene?

First time grower and first time posting
I have no idea what I'm doing but really wanted to get started with growing my own plants. Out of three germinated seeds, this is the only plant that survived so far. Plant is 5 weeks old and seems pretty small in size but very bushy. Should I be trimming or doing something with it to make it grow taller or wider? I think the plant looks healthy overall but compared to other photos I find online, it seems tiny and bushy.. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm kind of at the same stage really I'm just topping mines and let it go. U can low stress train ya plants but I just top

What distance is your light from the plant? if it’s too close it can cause short bushy plants, if it’s not growing the way you want it to then step in and start training it, topping The plant is a good technique, and lifting your light may help it stretch some, good luck :weed:

Yea, I think light may have been too low and close to the plant. Adjusted the light and now it's about 2' above top of plant. Or do I want it even higher?
I'll have to look up topping, thanks for the pointer!
BTW, is short and bushy going to cause problems later on or a lower yield? Or do I not really need to worry about it being short and bushy?

It all depends on your light, I use metric mainly so I’ll just clarify 2’ is 2ft yes? If so I’d say that’s a good general distance for veg, there’s so many variables it’s hard to say I like short bushy plants personally others grow differently, and like different things, I don’t grow big fat arm size Colas and still pull a respectable yield on average. I find if a plant is too bushy it can restrict light penetration through the canopy to your lower bud sites though which can start to affect your yield. I like defoliation in this case but others swear against it.... it might be worth reading up about defoliation and seeing if it’s something you might be interested in trying, good luck man :blsmoke:

disclaimer: I am by no measure a “pro” but I like my home grown and so do others so everything I contribute is a matter of my own opinion and not to be taken as fact
