Again thanks everyone who replied with good info. This site rocks lol. I've been reading so many different posts on here. Last night I was studying suppercropping and FIMing. Pretty good stuff. Can't wait to give those a try

Well we had already decided to use just one room and interchange bulbs for the first grow. so we can have some experience under our belts before utilizing the other room. And we just don't have the cash to get the items for the other room. Also with that we decided to not use co2 untill the second grow. (Bills are a mother$*%&er huh?) Lol. Or is co2 a must???

So were going the ol' intake/exhaust technique for now. Earlier this morning we picked up the duct work and adapters. An oscillating fan. Some miracle grow starter soil for the seedlings. A grow dome that can hold 50 seedlings, a couple timers and a Ph meter.

Were still missing a few items I know. But were mainly focusing on the items to get the veg room operational. I figured we still have a couple months before they go to flowering to buy the rest of the stuff. Were only a month in and we have already got the majority of what we need. And we can pick more up weekly when needed.

But a couple questions, first tell me if this sounds right. I'm going to mount the filter towards the top inside the tent, have piping run out of the tent from the filter into the fan, drawing air out. Then cut a hole and mount an intake fan on the opposite side of the room towards the bottom. Now correct me if I'm wrong but you said I could run piping from the intake fan to the air cooled hood (cooling the bulb right?) And having it exhausted back out. Does that sound okay? I've got a setup in my head mapped out lol.

Also, whats black and white poly???

Another question. About nutrients, we don't have any veg nutrients. We only picked up starter soil for the seedling until they are far along enough to transfer into their own pots. Now when we get to that point what would be the best soil to get? Or soil/nutrients for veg stage?

Hopefully next payday (next week) we should be up and running, or at least have the rest of the items we need ordered. Veg side anyways. Any tips or items you think I may need let me know. Any info is good info to me lol.
CO2 is NOT a must. Period. It enhances growth. There is plenty in regular atmospheric air to grow plants. Air exchange then becomes critical. Get unused "new" air in and remove the "used" air just as quickly.

Get growing and screw nutrients for now. The bag soil will do nicely for a few weeks with just water. When you buy nutrients buy GOOD ones. This Miracle Gro shit is just that - shit. You MG lovers save it. Growing wild since 1964 and it is about all we had for years. There is much better for not much more. That crap is for termaters, Ned.

Biggest factor - AIR exchange and you're thinking on that already. Good luck.

I had figured to use soil with no nutes. We have some more things to order so we will get the veg nutes then. But what kind of soil do you reccommend? Should i go for the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 mixture? And add the nutes with the water? Because thats looking pretty promising lol. Right now were using the seedling starter soil with nutes in it. Untill we transplant into bigger pots, then do what you said.
If you can get it in your area, use the Fox Farms Ocean Forest (FFOF) its really good soil. If not find something with peat and perlite mixed into it or as you mentioned, mix it in yourself.

thanks for the replies everyone. and sorry for the late replies, ive been busy with work recently and havent been spending much time doing the room untill last night. we finally picked up a killer air cooled hood yesterday from a guy off cl. it was a midnight sun ultra cool xl or something. i looked at thier website. the glass is 24 inches by 24 inches. it didnt have a light fixture in it so we rigged up the one from our cheap 600 watt econo wing to it. worked out pretty well lol. got that hood and 25 foot of 6 inch tubing for 40 bucks!! it didnt come with clamps for the glass though. does anyone know where i could find such clamps for those? or something i could use as a clamp?

were almost done with the grow room, then we'll be setting up the ventilation systems. we have everything we need now but we just have to build it all up. i started germinating my seeds this morning. so by the time they pop i can plant em in the grow dome for a bit. and by that time the room will be done and i can veg them!

when we finish the room ill post some pics

finally have the room together. have 7 sprouted seedlings under light. now my question is, right now on my dimmable ballast im at 50% power. should i do that for a few days then raise to 75%? then go up to 100% after a bit? or just go ahead and do full 100%? im using 600 watt MH

*edit* i went ahead and cranked the ballast to 100% im going to keep my eye on the temps

**update**

started lights on a 16/8 light schedule about 5 days ago, and heres the ones who survived. i say survived because i left them in the grow dome too long and they stretched, and some drooped and got soft, so i pulled em. i had to use a couple paper clips to hold one that was starting to droop. they are just bag seeds and i have more in a grow dome. and some more germinating. i actually picked up 3 from a friend that says they are "purple kush" seeds. and one was "sour deisel".

also, temps are ranging around 80f lights on with 55-60 humidity. with lights off the temp gets to around 68-75 with a humidity of around 65-75. is the humidity too high for lights off?
