First time grower looking at building a small stealth Cab.

Hey guys, i'm new to growing and I figured the best place to start would be with a stealth cab. I don't plan on growing very much (Probably a single female plant) and I will be germinating the seed(s), I'm sort of strained for space and as such the best dimensions I would have available for a stealth cab would be:

Setup 1:
1.5 ft width & height
3 ft height

or

Setup 2:
2.2 ft height
1.5 ft width
2 ft length

Like I said I don't plan on growing much, but i'm hoping to build a cabinet from scratch then have 4 140mm Noctua fans (PC Case fans that are rated at 19.6 dB and push out 110CFM each), two on each side with a bit of space between it and the wall, plus a thin carbon filter on each of the fans. (Using a single layer of the same carbon filter material shown here: https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/7074-easy-build-diy-carbon-filter.html). The inside will be coated with Mylar. There will be a swinging door on the front with a lock on it.

I have a few questions.

A: I plan on using CFLs so how many+wattage should I look at based on the setups shown.

B: Are the setups shown too small?

C: What yield would be expected based on the setups shown?

D: What would be a good strain for a starter or someone looking to grow in a setup like the ones shown.

E: How much carbon filtering would I need to look at to remove the smell completely?

F: What would be a good material to seal the area between the door and the inside, to prevent both moisture, light, smell etc from seeping out.

Any help would be much appreciated! Sorry if I missed any threads that answered some of my questions, a link to them would be appreciated :]

Thanks!

i got to head to work and will get back to u more tonite but i would go with the setup 1 height 3' and try to make it 2x 2 sides
to seal door get foam door weatherstrip self adh.
yield is unpredictable
use at least 100 watts per sq ft
if u could i would make it 3x2 x 3 high and grow two incase something happens

Okay some 24 inch T5 lights will get you going nicely around the sides and no more than a 150w HPS up top so go for 7k to 10k lumens and hey lose the top and bottom that could be your best bet!

I almost left it at that but you gotta remember there's an inherent risk having a grow so it's got to be quite strategic if you get my drift. I mean you get the most bang for your buck in the winter so it's available in the spring. And of course the heat is handy for keeping out the cold. But that also implies you aren't doing it all the time. So it's got to yield something! Something to keep you for 6 months or so.

But even one plant is gonna be crowded I mean you would have to do a one plant sog to hope to have it fit! Okay here's other stuff even in scrog where everything is tied down you figure you need 39.5 inches. Maybe a bit less with LED's.

Now I think about it this could work just great for that LST technique where you wrap the plant around the pot!

im thinking of something similar also... i dk.... im thinking if i were you i would start with 4-6 plants... maybe in dixie cups (beer) and go 12 and lst the fuck outta them sluts.. might get a zip a plant... 3 males.. 1 dies....

in that box that would give you 2 ounces... 2 months smoke...

has anyone ever used those little 15$ plug into the wall air freshner carbon filter fan combo things before>?

Dixie cups to root em in and then into 1 gal for flower! just like that pot up and into the 12/12.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I've modified my dimensions as follows, I'll be doing setup 1 but have

1.5 ft width & length
4 ft height

a 1ft gain in height. I can't really spare any space in the width and length department due to the fact this will be going into a closet next to a dresser.

I was definitely considering doing the LST trick since it would save me a ton of desperately needed space.

Would it be best if I put a 24 inch T5 vertical and had one on each wall side (surrounding the plant) then having one 150w HPS at the very top? The light placement with such a small working area is getting me confused.

Are you building this yourself from scraps or is it a prefabbed box. I'd honestly do 1.5 deep x 2 width x 4 height. That way you could put a 150 or 250 in there and still have some head room for a scrog or sog or even a short auto strain. I have a 150 watt hps with daystar reflector in a dresser that measures 36"T x 14.5"D x 25.25"W and still have enough head room to do a micro scrog which is what I'm doin or 2-3 dwarf auto strains. Hope this helps and if u need a site for some decent priced low wattage hps lights check 1000bubs.com I paid 45 dollars for my 150, but I already had a reflector, and it doesnt put off so much heat that the noctua fan cant handle it. Ive only got an 88CFM pc fan cooling my dresser and the 150 watter. My night temps never break 75. Days are a different story because I live in a concrete house and the outside of it is painted a dark color so it gets pretty hot.

I'm going to be building this myself using 1/2" plywood, then glue mylar on the walls of the inside and seal the seams with silicone so its perfectly water sealed. I'll be looking up some information on other building materials that would be good to use. The door will open much like a kitchen cabinet but have a key lock on it. The entire outside of the unit will be painted black to match the dresser beside it and the space in between the door and the frame will be sealed using closed cell foam tape to form a complete seal between the door and the inside of the unit (to prevent smell and air from escaping, thereby the only way air will get in and out is via the 4 fans and through the carbon filters).

I still think 1.5 ft width and length is the most I can muster, but I have a bit of height to work with so hopefully it will be ok.

Is it really necessary to use HPS lighting or would CFL be sufficient for a first grow?

In all honesty I would never use cfls. Id spend the same amount on a lower wattage HPS that produces more lumens. My friends 70 watt hps puts out 6300 lumens compared to the equivelant cfl which is a 65 watter which only does like 3000 lumens. My 150 watt hps does 16000 lumens compared the the equivelant 150 watt cfl which only does 10000 lumens. The hps lights are cheaper if you know where to find them. Besides it aint shit to cool a lower wattage HPS. They dont produce much more heat than the higher wattage CFLs. Hope this helps.
