So im about to start my first grow and am having trouble picking what lights to get. i have a homemade box that is 60, 32, 28 (h,w,d. in inchs) and i only plan on have one maybe two plants in there at any given time. so if i could get some insight as to what light or lights would work best for this small of a grow it would be much appreciate. thank you all that respond!

T5's are the most efficient and won't heat up your box at all, really. For that size box you could probably get away with anywhere from a 250-400W HPS, which would be MUCH better than CFL or T5 for flowering. If you decide to go HID, make sure you vent the shit out of that box.

For a first-time grow I HIGHLY recommend Trainwreck. Not the most potent strain out, but almost impossible to mess up and medium-medium high yields. That's what I started with anyways.

walmart has 3,860 lumen cfls bulbs for 12.00 a bulb..x 4 bulbs and your good for a small grow..also low heat and cost...take baby steps..good luck!!

go with T5, if its your first grow, switching from T5 to HID is going to be more of a hassle than you want, and excrutiatingly pointles on one or two plants. If you got cash to blow, then do it, otherwise if you deck the shit of out your box, an HID won't yield that much more for the cooling and exhausting headache you'll have to go through.

T5's need minimal cooling and can carry you through to flower no problem. For a newbie, stick with this, its cheap. You can get a great 2ft 8lamp T5-HO fixture with 8 LAMPS! That will fit perfectly in that box, click here for link to site for a $150 bucks, lol's. A 250w HPS, complete system w/ bulbs cheapest I've seen is just over $200, plus the increased hydro bill.

thanks for the link! that would be perfect for my box! the only thing about the 250w hps system is i dont have to buy one all i need is the bulbs cus one of my friends is a electrical major so he might just make one for me to fit. but great link will def look in to getting that.

hey if the HPS is free Nug, get it for sure (bulbs for 30bucks, so thats not a huge start-up cost ), but just make sure you run it dry for 18 hrs with your exhausting and temps in that box should not exceed 85-88max and you're kosher. If they do... pump more fresh air into the box :o
