This will be my first time growing and only started a couple weeks ago, I must say its been a lot of fun already and cant wait to really see these babies take off!

Being that it is my first time i decided to go with soil, but maybe 2nd time around ill try some sort of hydro method.

As far as lights go:
-2 ft 4 bulb t5 fixture for seedlings
-600w hps for flowering. Flowering will be done in 3'11x3'11x6'7 tent

I was a little worried about bringing back some sort of illness from dispensary clones, so i got me some seeds for a fresh start.
Feminized Larry OG x Blue Dream

I germinated 4 of the 6 seeds but the first one is a day ahead of the other 3.
Have a couple pics of Day 1 and 2 also a pic of the tent (not in use yet)

The soil I'm using is a mixture of Fox Farm Ocean Forrest and Happy Frog (guy at the hydro shop said it works well)

So Far i have a second seed just planted and 2 more still germinating.
The purplish/brown color at the top of the root something to worry about? i might have been checking on it a little too often lol

Here is the tent

The setup was really easy to put together, still need to get a carbon filter and maybe a intake filter for dust/bugs. Right now i have a 400 cfm 6" inline fan mounted right outside the tent, pulling air through the hood. I also have a 6" inline booster fan which i will help out when summer temps kick up.

Thats about it for now, later today i'll plant the other 2 seeds, take some more pics. Been around for awhile but first time actually posting anything, just want to thank everyone from rollitup for making all this information so easy to get. Im stoked to get any sort of advice and really want to learn a lot from this experience.

Thanks!

looks like ur off to a great start, u have adequate lighting for different stages, etc. don't worry about the intial coloring of ur sprouted seedlings, but do be wary not to overwater or keep the soil very moist all the time; u could easily drown & rot its tender roots so gingerly only "mist" them as needed only at this point. Good luck & enjoy the journey :)

Thanks exception!
After watering the soil before planting i'v done very little watering but with the cover over the cup its staying moist.

One thing i was slightly unsure about is when to put them directly under the T5, should i wait till the first set of leafs open? right now i have a paper towel over them to block the light a little.

no, they r ready for the T5's now. they should not have anything over them (paper towels, cover), as soon as they break soil they r ready for light and need air circulation!

Nice! Ha, we have damn near identical setups man. I just sprouted a bunch of seedlings as well. Def going to be watching this thread to see how your garden progresses. Is your fan mounted to the top of the closet door frame? That's a good idea if it is. Also, where are you exhausting to? Clean looking setup and good luck on the grow!

right on man, ill be sure to check yours out.. its all iv been thinking about since i started this project haha.

And for the fan, ya i just took my closet doors, rails off and mounted the fan right to the closet frame, and the hot air gets exhausted up into the attic

Originally i was going to buy some fox farm nutrients, or something similar, but the owner of the shop gave me a sample 3 part nutrient box

Its called Hydroponix, but he said it works great for soil too.. not sure what to think about it, theres no info about whats in it on the bottle or there website.
The box included "Basic Micro Nutrients", "Basic Grow Nutrients", and "Basic Bloom Nutrients." oh also a small clone solution.

Directions say to use micro with grow and bloom

Micro: 3.3 - 0 -1.3
Grow: 1.6 - 2.1 - 5.5
Bloom: 1.2 - 6.1 - 5.5
On the bottle it reads, "Information regarding the contents and levels of metals in this product is available on the internet at http//:www.aapfco.org/metals.htm "

however, there company or product doesn't show up on the list lol
havent seen any reviews on it either.. anyone have experience with Hydroponix nutrients? www.growhydroponix.com

Anyways, just very lightly giving them water right now. Using plain RO water, will be getting some sort of cal mag + soon

As for the girls, they seem to be doing okay, only about 2-3 days in and the oldest seedling is looking pretty purple from the stem up to the bottom of the first leafs (not sure the correct term) it looks kinda cool not sure if its a bad or good thing lol.. SOo much to learn! haha might get some more pics up tonight, for sure tomorrow

Purple stalks not a prob...lot of strains do that....watch your leaf strusture for telltale signs......I put my seedlings under t5 24/0 as soon as they break ground where they stay for about a month or until they're 6-8 inches and healthy. Fems are then transferred to 400w hps 12/12 in a controlled environment...all my autos and photo go through the same events with autos giving me perpetual bud every 30-40 days with photos just doing their thing until deemed finished.....Of course, my autos service my needs mostly with the occassional harvest of a nice small photo is a treat.

Ok cool good to know.
I haven't really read much about auto strains.. I think i'll look into that , a harvest every month or so would be real nice!

Hell yeah....that's been my norm for years now...very happy to see the auto industry explode the past couple of years...love them little fuckers....some great genetics in some autos...

Unfortunately i lost one of my little ones, I'm not exactly sure what went wrong but i think it might have been planted a bit too shallow maybe dried out.. idk :-(

quick update, everything seems okay so far, temps have been staying around 78-81 degrees and 30-33% humidity. Today i bought some Neem oil too, id like to make some sort of bug spray mixture to prevent any mites or what not.

Gotta bring that humidity up. small girls like 50-60% maybe even higher depends on the strain... I kept my Propagation area and tent in the 60-70% range for their veg state and its now down in the 40-50% range.

should i get a dome to put over them? or is that going to restrict too much air at this point? I have some water sitting out to evaporate but that seemed to raise the humidity only a few percent

Maybe today ill get a better mist bottle, the one i have only sprays, or maybe a humidifier if there not too expensive
