First-Time Grower DP Blueberry

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here doing my first grow. I thought that I would share with you my experience and welcome all comments. First off, a lil about my setup:

Seeds: DP Blueberry 5 feminized
Medium: Bio-Bizz Lite Mix
Nutes used: Bio-Bizz Grow, Bloom, Superthrive, Supervit, root juice
Grow Box: Dark Room 1m x 1m
Light: SylvaniaGro-Lux 400W HPS
Temp: Current is 76 degreez fahrenheit

I germinated the seeds in a jiffy germination kit on 11/2 with 24 hour light. The seeds sprouted on 11/4 and were transplanted 11/6 to a 1 liter container. The lights were switched to 20/4 on 11/8.

I began nutes on 11/10 with 2ml Bio-Grow to 1 liter water PH 6.5. The plants are watered lightly every other day and feed alternating days.

The plants were transplanted to 5 liter pots on 11/16 and the light switched to 18/6.

Plants topped and pruned. The plants were transplanted to 7 liter containers on 11/24. A one and a half inch layer of hydroton was added to the bottom and a thin layer on top of the soil. They were then watered with 3ml root juice, 1 drop superthrive, 2.5ml bio-grow to 1 liter water.

11/27...24 hour dark period before flower.

11/28...flower began. Plants were fed 24ml root juice, 27ml bio-grow, 9ml bio-bloom, and 1 drop super-vit to 10L water.

11/30 Watered again with above and noticed slight tip burn.

12/2 The plants were fed plain water.

***The tallest plant is 22 inches tall and the shortest is 16 inches but it has the most fan leaves. I read that Blueberry responds well to topping and pruning. Should I continue pruning the bottom fan leaves to encourage more top growth?***

***I've included some eye candy. Are those pre-flowers? Any suggestions?***

Thanks!

Not bad man but I wouldn't do any more pruning now because your nodes are relatively far apart (try moving light closer) so the light should be able to penetrate the canopy well. If the canopy thickens prune of lower leafs and branches slowly a little bit each day as to not cause any stress to your babies. Healthy foliage is excellent for growing plants (vegging and flowering) and should not be removed as long as light is reaching it. (my opinion only based on what I know of plants in general others swear by pruning techniques where I have not really experimented with them other than pruning lower branches.)

Thanks. I did notice on 1 or two of the plants that the nodes were spaced far apart. I didn't want to move the light too close because I'm using 400W HPS and didn't want to burn them. The light is around 6 inches from the canopy of the tallest plant. Should I drop the light an inch or two closer?

No 6 inch is close.did you veg under the hps ? because sometimes vegging under an hps can stretch the plants a bit if not at the perfect hight. when you veg add some 5000k cfls or something to bump the blue spectrum spike and promote foliage growth. always things we can do to improve our grow not trying to say anything bad your plants look very strong and healthy dude keep it up.

Looking good for yr first go,you done pretty well to get all the seeds looking good, there normaly is a couple of laggers but that don't seem to be the case here. The only thing that i would say is for yr next grow is use advanced, alot of grower's slag advanced but belive me untill you have used advanced then you will never know what a piece of armery this is to every grower.Use advanced sensi pro veg and the bloom and the yeild from yr next grow will be 99% bigger than this one and i dont even know the yeild yet.The only problem with the bio bizz feeds is that the yeild from these nutes is not that good, and it is supposed to give you a far better tasteing crop but i never found this to be the case has long has you flush 7 day's before the end of the grow cycle then you will be well impressed. If someone had given me this info when i was first out i would have been realy happy to try it,but i was always put of the advanced nutes by growers who have never used it they can't have or they would be singing its praises like i am.I still use bio bizz light mix and will continue too because i love the soil, the other good thing about the advanced sensi pro nutes are they are ph perfect and when you add a ammount recomended the nutes will go auto to the right ppm's,so you can do away with the ph ans ppm meter all though i still check just out of causion realy but its always gone to the right ph and ppm's.When you come to flowering use bud blood for the first 2 week then big bud till week 5 then overdrive week 7 flush and then enjoy the fruites pf yr passion, you will only use the above has a addative to the sensi bloom and they will last a few grows so it works out not that bad price wise...................tyke....................
