Hey everyone, well I have been watching the forums for some time now and figured I would finally start my own thread. I have recently started growing my first crop of meds. I am a First time grower, and I figured I would start an auto strain before summer season hits. Any advice would be appreciated and I sure needed!

The seeds I am trying out are below -

DNA Genetics: Afgan Kush Ryder
Dutch Passion: Auto Blueberry
World of seeds : 60 day lemon
Nirvana : Blue Mystic

I went with 3 gallon Smart pots and Roots Organic soil. I also wanted to use Subs super soil for the bottom of the pot, this might be part of my problem and I was hoping to get some feedback. I was unable to create his exact mix, mostly because I was to hasty. I did not add the Dolomite, Humic acid, or epson salt to the mix.

So the 1/4 of the bottom of the pot is a good ratio of RO, worm castings, steamed bone meal, bat guano and blood meal.

At first I did not have the right lightning and I know this now. I had 1 54w 4ft T5 HO 6500K "blue" lamp. I am pretty sure this is what caused the lack of growth in the beginning as well as my seedlings to stretch so far. After the 3rd day into the initial grow I changed over to a 600w HPS.

As far as watering and nutes go for -

Seedlings: I was planing on making Organic teas the entire way through and possibly adding other nutes. So far I have feed them a mix of black strap molasses, earthworm castings and a touch of Liquid Karma for the first 2 weeks.

Vegetative Mix: I will use a Peruvian seabird Guano,Mexican bat Guanao, Earthworm castings,Maxi Crop Powdered kelp extract, liquid karma, black strap molasses brew.
Brewed and airated of coarse.

Flowering mix: Peruvian Seabird Guano, earth worm casting, Indonesian Guano, Maxi Crop Powdered kelp extract

Right now I am in a 2.5 x 4 x 8 ft closet. I will be moving to an open garage with tons of room any day so please keep that in mind.
I have taken pictures throughout the coarse of the plants but this is what is current.

View attachment 2579504Dutch Passion: Auto Blueberry - 2 Days old. The seed husk was stuck on the plant which caused one side to not mature as fast. I have a feeling this will be an amazing plant even with the little set back!

View attachment 2579503 20130320_215724.jpgNirvana : Blue mystic 8 days old. Looks a little burned. Some leaf curl but every morning she is pointing at the HPS gods.

Any advice would be appreciated. I think the plants are doing good for their age... at least i keep telling myself that lol! Maybe I will even get some decent harvests.

Thanks :eyesmoke:

Thanks guys! Please stay tuned I will update with new pics tomorrow and probably every 2-3 days. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Any suggestions on good nutes I can use for veg and flowering cycles ? I have a half ass super soil going as well as my organic teas I will be making. But sounds like people still use additional nutes.

not so much additional Nutrients i would say but rather 'Stimulants' to enhance the Nutes, which you already seem to be takeing care of :bigjoint:

The blue mystic seems to really be curling at the tips bad. The other plants don't seem to have this issue. I can't figure out if the small dose of seedling tea I gave them caused this. I want to say they were slightly curled before I watered with it a few days ago. I read it might be mag deficiencies so I might water with a bit of epsom salt. Or even just plain to much heat which at times i can see but there is a fan always on them. Any ideas ?
20130321_165152.jpgBlue Mystic 9 days old. Not sure what to do, tips are curling and I even see a small yellow hole in one of the fan leaves. Please help !!

Hey guys, just a quick update on my ladies!

20130325_204316.jpg 20130325_204400.jpgNirvana : Auto Blue Mystic 13 days Old.

20130325_204413.jpg 20130325_204420.jpgDNA Genetics: 60 day Lemon 14 days old.

20130325_204437.jpg 20130325_204442.jpgWorld of Seeds: Afgan Kush Ryder 13 days old.

20130325_204457.jpgDutch Passion: Auto Blueberry 6 days old.

Unfortunatly I watered them tonight just to find out a roomie had given them water earlier in the day. Double water... hopefully it wont hurt them to much. We shall see soon enough.

I also ordered a Earth Worm 4x4x6.5 foot Grow tent, it should be here on Wednesday. Also got two 6-Inch 240 CFM Air duct inline Hydroponic booster fan. Figure ill use one push air out of the tent and one to bring cool air in. Figure it will give me a more controlled environment then an open garage or stuffy closet.

If the pots have drain holes the excess should run out. Just don't water for a couple days unless they need it. As for your Blueberry, feed it lightly, half strength since they are nute sensitive like the regular variety. Mine grew slowly until the started to flower and now they're taking off growing from 1 to 1.5 inches a night. You can also expect to have to selectively thin out the leaves so that your buds get enough light unless you use MH, NPS or LED but thinning is not a problem if you just do it a few leaves only when necessary. Unlike many, I do switch my light cycles for my autos and haven't had any probs and run 2500k bulbs the entire time.

I am using 3 gallon smart pots. Shouldn't these drain themselves ?

As far as thinning why is it needed more when using HPS because of the node spacing ? Seems they are turning into little bushes quick lil no topping or anything. Also how would u suggest I do that and when would I start ? Just cut off a branch here and there that are blocking light to lower nodes ? I need to do some research on it obviously. I'm hoping in the next week these babies get taller, from all the research iv done we should see some explosive growth this next week!

Going to be starting my Veg tea tonight should be ready Thursday !!

Not for HPS, I use T-5s and if you only use a low wattage CFL or T-5s or even a low watt HPS you MAY have to uncover your buds for them to maximize light absorbance. Why on earth would you sacrifice an entire limb that will give you more buds? DSCF2255.jpg This plant has 10 closely stacked side branches(5 nodes) plus the two that are beginning to frame the top cola. Every one of the branches is developing either one main terminal bud on the branch or 2-3 buds a little bit smaller. I cut off the lowest pair because they rarely develop too well. Why would I sacrifice any of them? Makes no sense. Not every plant will need thinning.

That plants looks nice! How old is she?

Well good news is I am using a 600w HPS so hopefully I wont need to thin them to much, if at all. Guess we shall just wait and see how they turn out.

20130327_225636.jpg The girls in their new home!

Looks like the extra water did slow their growth a little but im sure there will be a burst of growth soon. So far the two fans seem to really push and pull air, should be pretty nice.

In the above pic she was 39 days old. This pic is from today, she is now 54 days old and about 20 days left, give or take a week.DSCF2257.jpg :weed:I plan on sacrificing one small branch for my birthday celebration in a couple weeks.:bigjoint: Gotta have a reason to try my spin trimmer and hanging drying rack. You see, I lead a very active and full life. Yawn!

Very nice pics Mtgeezer! Sorry I have not been updating more frequently. All of the plants are just over a month old and the Auto blueberry is just over 3 weeks. Unfortunately the 60 day lemon which was the fastest growing at first still has not flowered. The blue mystic is just getting huge and same with the AKR. The blueberry had some nute and heat stress i think but it is bouncing back and again started flowering at around day 16.

Thanks for the comments. Those auto blueberries are just as nute sensitive as the regular blueberries. I only use my ferts at 50% of recommended strength and have never had a problem with established plants.

Can anyone give me some advice on my 60 day lemon DNA genetics seeds. It started from germination as my fastest growing plant. As u can tell by the pictures in this thread. About week 3 it got left in the dust by blue mystic and AKR. Now we are halfway into week 4 and still no sex. The new growth which always seems to be a light green color. I just dono what to do. I have read this specific strain works best under 12/12. Right now they are all on 24/0. I have another room set up for flowering regular strains and I was thinking about putting it in there for the rest of the grow. Hopefully that will force it to flower. Please any advice ?

I think the bigger pots allows for more veg time (read somewhere most Autos wont start flower till tap root hits bottom of pot). My AK49 took damn near 5-6 weeks to flower, but on the good side your plants will be 2-3 times the size the breeder has told you and yield substantially more.

I would give it another week to flower, putting it in 12/12 will greatly stress them after 24/0 and will greatly reduce yield.

So be patient but if you dont see any flowers in a week or so they may not be true autos.......

3 on the left are a couple weeks younger then the 2 on the right ( they are at 56 days, will prob take a full 80)

DID you trim all the fan leaves off the ladies on the right??

I have not trimmed any of the plants the ones on the right naturally spaced like that. I will give it one more week and hopefully it switches. If not ill toss it on 12/12 and we shall see. I'd rather just wait it out over giving up on her.
