Hey guys,

This is my first post but I have been cruising the forum for a few weeks now. I have had the itch to start a crop for a long time now. After checking this site out and watching some of you I think it's time to do it!

I just want to grow one plant for now. I have a seed germinating and I am trying to construct a grow room in a wood cabinet in a closet. 2'W x 3'T x 2'D.

I found a GE CFL, it says it's 15w, it's the one on the right, below;

Will this be enough just to veg one plant or should I not even bother to use it?

Start 3 plants, if you only start 1 or 2 and they turn out male you will have wasted your time and money and have no smoke

Honestly I haven't spent anything to set this whole thing up. I just have one seed now got it from my buddy, it's feminized though :)

My main concerns with what I have learned here is the space and light situation. I know this space is very small but it's only one plant, and just to veg. Like I said this is my first time and have no experience with this at all. I have watched all the DVD's and videos on forums and other places but haven't seen anyone doing just one plant in a cabinet.

I would get some more ( more light the better ) maybe a couple of 23watt 6500k CFL's for vegetation stage and then add one or two 42watt 2700k for flowering

Like I told a couple other people today if your a member of Sam's Club, go check out your local store they got some good deals where I live ( know that products and prices vary from store to store )

OK, I'll pick up a couple bulbs and fixtures tomorrow.

If I get two of the 23w 6500's and use them instead of this 15 I have; will that be good enough for veg? Also, exactly how much slower are CFL's compared to the good Halide and HPS? I might just get a better setup if it makes a huge difference. Budget is just key for now. So far this has all been free to me, I happened to have all the stuff laying around pretty much.

Thanks!

I live in PHX. Haha don't think outdoor would be too good this time of year.
ok then , the smaller cfls will be ok for veg, but i would recommend getting into the 30w or 40w category as this will provide a greater amount of lumens and be more suitable for the plant.

However for flowering your going to need something quite a bit more powerfull i believe.

You should either be looking at a 150w 2700k cfl or a 400w hps for flowering, the plants need pleanty of light during flowering and the more lumens you provide will insure that you get better bud and more of it.

ok then this puts out any form of hid lighting. the heat from these bad boys would stop you from growing.

i think you should have a look into lst ( low stress training) to keep the plants small enough to insure they are getting enough lights, as far as flowering goes get an envirolite or an nlite.

Babygro has the inside information on nlites and I'm sure he will give you advice on where to go and what to get.

Thought i would share some pics of my setup . Its cheap and in a really small space..
Cool man. I can't wait to see some progress. The seed germinated last night and I planted it this morning. I'll get some pics as soon as I see some action.
