first time grow lights

i want to grow my first plant and ive done tons or research but im confused on the lighting. would i be able to just get one bulb for a plant and keep it the whole time or would i have to buy different lights at different stages. im growin 1 plant inside because its cold out now but what is the best idea light for 1 plant?

If u want just 1 bulb to use during the whole cycle then go with a hps, but it can be expensive. if ur planning on using cfl's(PLURAL), then u need to worry about changing the bulbs. U want the highest lumens u can find, and lots of em! U use the daylight cfl's for veg, and soft white when u switch to flowering.

All the talk about different lights is for maximum yield, but sure you can grow with just one light.

Buy one or two of the $20 150w hps's listed in this forum in the skip the cfl's thread and they'll do great to get you on the right track for the least amount of money.
