Hey everyone. First, I would like to say sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. I am as new to this forum as I am to growing. If it is, may a mod please move it to the right place? Ok, now here we go. I am currently in the baby stages of my first grow. Because of this I tend to overreact over everything (All the theoretic knowledge in the world couldn't prepare me to actually make this happen. It's very exciting xD) I have this plant of an unknown strain (explained below) and it is on the 3rd day after popping out of the soil. I have noticed that one of the pre-leaves is bigger than the other. Is this a problem? Like I said I might be overreacting but thats why I'm here for. I would rather ask a dumb question than make a dumb mistake. Here are some pics of day by day progress and some info about my current grow setup in case it helps. I just want to make sure my baby is ok. Thanks for your time!

SETUP

Lights: 4' Flourescent Tube 40W
Soil: Rainforest Soil Potting Soil
Strain: I found this seed in a .5 of sour diesel. The dealer claims it was sour but having never smoked it before, I cannot confirm or deny his claim. So for all intents and purposes the strain is unknown at this time. But the bud was an amazing smoke so I am hoping the genetics are at least as good as the smoke was.

I got the lights 2 inches from the top leaves. Should it be closer? After all it is a 4' light. It is spreading across a wide area. I am gettin CLF's soon.

Don't overgarden man. I made that mistake on my first grow. Just relax, let shit happen and never panic. This plant has been growing for millions of years without our help. I fed to much and burnt my leaves up and let a thrip outbreak get the best of me. This second time around I learned from my mistakes and tried my hardest to implement solutions from mistakes that others have made already and shared on this board. Now I have some White Rhinos that are falling over under bud weight and are less than a month away from harvest. You'll make some mistakes, but thats part of learning to grow anything. The major things I focus on are
Don't over water.
Don't over feed.
Don't over heat.
Don't let humidity get out of control.
Look for bugs EVERY DAY!

That plant might turn out to be a male, but if its all you got you can always try stressing it into a female. I did it and my plant produced super great buds from a seed I found in a great sack of Blackberry Kush. Message me if you run into that and I can give you the details of what I did. Good luck and above all have fun.

^^^^^ Trying to do to much on a first grow kills a lot of plants!

It's totally fine that one leaf is a little bigger than the other. Good luck, and yes, you are in the right room.

I saw a bug on the dirt earlier today. It had these long antenae it reminded me of a tiny lobster. Any idea what those are and if I should be worried. I looked at various bug threads and couldnt find nothing that fit the description of what I saw. Theres also some light bugs hoverin around the light but my boy said plant pests are normally NOT airborne bugs. Hopefully he's right.

And thanks for your help everyone, your tips really help. I love this forum already :)

I'm indoor hydro and haven't had a bug issue, so I can't help you here, but hopefully someone can help! And maybe tell you which bugs you have to worry about and which you don't.

Just FYI, there is a sub-forum in Marijuana Plant Problems that's dedicated to bugs, so you might look there, too.

Number, I have 2 sour diesel's in the works right now, 5 days into flower now. They fucking ROCK. They smell, but they rock. I've heard they are a pain in the ass, but mine are hardy, withstanding a week of 64 degrees because of radiators not working, minimal ventilation. And in 5 days, one has grown almost 6". If yours are sour diesel, your gonna have a lot of fun.

All you have to do is listen to the plant, every environment is going to be different. EVERY little thing will, it all just depends on how you react to your plants reaction. Anyone can grow, not anyone can listen to their plants.

Ok ill try the water out..........lol, first and foremost i hope your interest takes you as afr as it can because cannabis is a woonderful plant! That being said bear in mind cannabis is a weed, it is also pretty resiliant in most cases. Sterile soil, good lighting, and some sort of air flow will ensure a good enviroment for seedlings. Also bear in mind that cleanliness is a good habit to keep. If your gonna be over the top on anything make it your cleaning practices in your grow area's. If you use tap water make sure there's no treatments in it that may through off your plants ideal water ph which i believe should be around 7ish?I just fill many one gallon milk jugs and allow them to sit for a week uncapped, this tends to let any treatments leach out i have found. Good luck in beautiful puerta riquena!
