First Time Grow (Could use some feedback)

This is my first indoor grow that I've ever done and I just want to share what I have and hopefully get some insight from others as this process unfolds. I have one Qrazy Train clone that I am growing in my closet under an Ultra Sun 400 watt HPS in an exhausted hood, powered by a Lumatek ballast model:LK400 set on the 400 watt super lumen setting for a 10% increase in output at 18/6. The plant is about 8 weeks or so into veg and I plan to continue to veg it for an additional 2 weeks. It's in a 20 gallon pot (Yes a 20 gallon
) which I drilled holes into the side of for more air to flow in hopes that they'll produce some sort of air pruning. She is planted in a 50/50 mix of Fox Farm Ocean Forest and ProMix Mycorrhizae. I have been feeding her 3 gallons of water at a time every 3 to 4 days with Fox Farm Grow Big (3tsp per gallon) and Big Bloom (3tbsp per gallon) and will continue to use the Grow Big during the first two weeks of flowering as well as using Tiger Bloom. I have been told that she's a very heavy feeder so I have been feeding every watering so far, but I plan on trying to just feed her every other time so that I don't encounter a lock out. I am going to do a ScrOg with this grow and have been LST'ing her along with topping and fimming. The screen will be going in next weekend which will be 32"x40" and will be triggered the following weekend. As she stretches I will be checking daily to see if there's any adjustments I need to make with the tops (which I know she will) so that I can get a complete and even canopy. I plan to lollipop her shortly after triggering and keeping a few of the cuts to continue to use as clones. I think I covered all the bases here so far, I would love to hear some feedback about my plan. The pictures that I posted are from today.

Thanks man, I appreciate the rep! I spent many many hours reading articles and watching videos, now it's just trial and error. I forgot to mention that she's been supercropped twice and I might end up supercropping in two more spots before her flip.

Everything looks great man, but let me tell you, you should maybe cut the feeding every watering out because the salts DO build up for sure. This is from experience back in the day frying the shit out of my soil plants. I wasnt even feeding heavy either. Its just something to consider. I know you can test your run off to find out.

Yeah sounds good to me. She's going to be getting 3 gallons of just water later today and I'll see how she acts. I think I'm going to turn this into a grow log that I'll update daily with pictures.

Pictures are from today.

Nice looking plants, sounds like you are on the right path. I'd respectfully disagree a little with RL420 on the ferts. He's right, you can absolutely burn up a plant if you're not careful and/or have a sensitive strain. But if you are careful and keep an eye on your plants it can be done. I fert w/full strength nutes and cal-mag early on, and stay with that throughout.

Anyway it's working well for me, pics in sig, but doesn't work for everyone or every grow situation.

Thank you AimAim. Your plants look like they're coming along great also. That's only one plant btw, just two different angles. I'm going to be adding cal-mag this weekend, I completely forgot to pick that up last time I was at the store. I feel that she's doing just fine as of now with the way that I've been feeding her, but I figure a good just water feed will be good for her. I also still need to get a pH tester to make sure my soil is right where I want it and will have a better idea as to whether or not I'm pushing it. I will also be picking up a CO2 bag when I get the pH tester.

Side note: I'm getting two clones this weekend as well, Blue Dream, and Headband. They'll be vegged under T5's along with a few clones from this grow, and I will begin my way towards a perpetual cycle.

Thanks Slevar. I believe cal-mag has some real benefits, some of the stuff I do and use I'm not so sure. I've never heard of anyone OD'ing their plants on it, but it probably can be overdone in some situations.

If you are growing in soil just mix an ample amount of dolomite in it, and you'll never worry about pH again. If I had to pick one amendment to my basic soil it would be dolomite.

Happy growin' - AIM

I'm a firm believer in less is more, so this is why i commented on the OP's post. Im pretty sure it even says on the back of the bottles not to feed every watering for a reason, the amounts they tell you to use is wayyy more than what the plant actually needs so you use more and buy more product. So unless you use like 1/2 strength i can see problems eventually happening if you use full strength every single watering. You're right though maybe he wont have problems now or even ever on this grow. Some strains do eat like beasts.

I got bored and went on a roadie and decided to pick up the pH tester now, along with the CAL-N-MAG instead of waiting until the weekend. My pH tested out at 6.6 so everything looks good there. I'm going to add the CAL-N-MAG to this watering, but not add any of the Fox Farm nutes this time round as originally planned.

Well I hit it hard with a 18-18-18 water for building,, but once it has a good strong frame i stop the nirtrne and lay on the flower nutes.. 01-15-15,, it works for me.
