First time grow, complete newbie.

Hey all, First post for my first grow.
On a basic level i know what i'm doing from research and such but on a real level i'm a complete beginner and don't 100% expect to succeed through out this grow but i'm learning. as i go so i'm ok with that.
I'm not entirely sure what lights i'm using, its all things that i rag-tagged together from friends- i think its a 250 or 350watt hps bulb inside the glass tube attached to the carbon filter and the extractor fan up outside the "tent" and a 600watt florescent bulb to the side.

Growing Kritical kush, currently still in veg at 27 days. Using terra vega twice a week with a clean water once a week and using rhizotonic with the 2 week old once a week (I had some clones die and re-potted new ones for a small compensation after a week and a half)
At this point i'm starting to get a little lost as a friend was going to help me along but i have seen him maybe 3 times throughout and 2 where in the first week, but hopefully will hear from him soon.
I'm finding it easy as far as patience goes since my dreadlocks where a huge patience test, but i live in an area with a lot of sirens which puts me on edge a little; i hear around 1 an hour in the area, but i know i'm fine really having smell and sound proofed and no one knows.

Things i have learnt through error so far are only few and minor, i feel lucky in that sense:
Maybe 1 less pot next time as its clear the lower big leaves arent getting enough light (If this actually a problem or do the lower leaves not matter much)
No nutes for the first few weeks if you have good soil. I suffered a little nute burn in the early stages but nothing that caused much harm it seems.
The photos go generally in a time line, you can see about mid way on the right when i planted the baby in comparison to the original pottings.

How do you guys think things look ? Once i have harvested i will be able to make some changes if you have recommendations but for now i'm broke.

What's ur max height? They look fine do far for first grow. Don't sweat about lower leaves. Just watch ph n overdoing it on nutes

Looking good. I would trim the lower yellow leaves.
What kind of ventilation do you have as far as circulating air?.
As for the feeding, keep it light and be careful of doing it on a set schedule. Same as for watering, they're not goi.g to use same amount of water and nutes all the time, so you have to go by the plants and not schedule.

Not sure of max height, i think they can hit around 60-70cm, are currently around 35-50cm. I just planned to move them to flowering around 4-5 week mark.

The silver tube runs through the light tube and carbon filter is attached to a big ol' extractor fan up above the tent and puts a fair bit of heat out the window, i have the fan in there for circulation which can be extremely powerful when turned up (thought its often just working as a breeze on the plants) and i have a vent hole open on the side of the tent at the bottom. It sits around a constant 27-28 degrees with about 23-24% humidity.
How to best trim? Use a razor, scissors, or would just giving the leaf a little tug suffice ?
As for feeding i have been going more on when the soil is fully dry as opposed to a set time table but have kept the nute's pretty constant, though changed slightly for the baby, ill add a few drops of rhizo to the water for that one once-twice a week and also tend to give it "cleaner" water than the rest so i don't burn it being small still.

By height I meant your room or light max height. I always flip when I'm about half way to maximum height to cc ount for stretch in flower. Meaning top of pot to light at max height minus light clearance needed from plants. That maximizes your veg time n yield

O haha, that does make more sense! I have 55in from soil to top of tent. I'd give it 10in for the light (Can be moved to the very very top) which inc. room for the plants to not get burned. Tallest is around 20in and other are not far off. Ill give it a week as see, i had planned on seeing how big they where to switch on sunday but might wait a bit longer.
Im still always so suprised at the growth in a few weeks !!(the third picture is just for colour, the camera setting i used made then look unhealthy and off colour)

Thanks spawn.

First let me start by saying your plants look pretty decent for your first time around, having said that try not to build up your yield quantity in your head to much, you almost never get what you expect whther it be good or bad. Also you need to quit sweating those sirens, for one they definitely do not let ya kno whwn they are coming let alone blare a siren lol gomna give yourself a heart attack you keep worrying bout that shit... as for the feeding i would def keepcit light with that canna tera, i just used it for the first time on some space bomb cones i hd going and it kept em happh with 6 feedings in a 60 day veg period. Oh and one last thing be careful bout panning on letting them getting 10 in. to the bulb, i would thin he lower leaves (the bud sites wont yield much) and start super cropping to give her some support and slow down stretch. Hope all is well in your garden sir, be easy

Thanks for all the advice and the kind words Natro. Im sure i can find something about super cropping on here but could you give me a little "What is" there please. I'm a little adamant about trimming etc without my previously mentioned friend to help as im worried ill kill it or do something wrong (how much can go wrong really?) The terra is definitely a good nute so far IMO, i have nothing to compare it to but the growth of a nute feed vs a clean water feed is astounding! As for the sirens im over it, even if something happens i have no previous record for anything and less than 10 plants- ill get a slap on the wrist, meh.

Tallest is now at 45cm and the baby, late potted plant is around 30cm, Think i'm going to start turning the lights off an hour earlier each night from Wednesday-Sunday to ease it in to 12-12 with as reduced stress as possible.

If anyone can give me a good camera setting for photos under the lights it would be great, i at least dont get the black flickering from the tubelight like others do but find the settings i use to get them leave the colours off and the plants looking kind of sickly, either faded out green/yellow or way to dark/orange.

Finally i wish everyone a green Christmas and a baked new year :)

Super cropping is where you twist or snap the stem to weaken it for a sec then it grows sturdier at this point than it could have naturally without it, helps slow down strecltch and support lanky stems. There are a couple of different methods, cN just bend it at a point , i usually pinch a lil before i do this just so you dont end up getting to aggressive and snapping your plant in half lol. If you dont have the space to be bending em over kyle kushman has this video with a technique ( main one i use now) just grab the stem with your middle and index finger then grab just below that with tht with your other hand and twist gently until uou feel the tissues snap.

I like that canna for an all in one veg but once you get the cash i would grab their flower boosters. Sounds like your in the same boat as me, been an upstanding citizen my whole life lol except for the plants i got going.... and for the cam it depends on what kind of camera, most have white balance adjustment. And as far as trimming goes not much can go wrong, so long as you dont leave your plant looking like the charlie brown christmas tree lol. There is even a form of training/trimming called FIM meaning fuck I missed so you literally can not get bad results. But if you are going to flower this week then I would look into lollipopping, basically just trimming up the lower stuff that isnt getting much light and wont produce much so you can concentrate growth to the top. Do that after you start to flower for best results imo, need to let em stretch a lil to know how much plant is gonna be there.

Thanks for the information. Yup, same boat- I don't agree with the system but i'm one of those dirty peace loving hippies :p I actually do have Boost accelerator and Pk that has been in the waiting for a few weeks. For "trimming" i have been taking away any leaves towards the lower section that will come off the plant without even so much as a tug, just applying a small amount of pressure to a little pull and if it wants to stay ill try again in a few days, once they start to yellow and become less productive that is. I will have to look at FIM trimming just out of curiosity now! Ill get a few updated pictures later when people are out.
