first time grow all i have is a T5 where do i go from here

Hello i'm a newbie. My closet is 3'wx3'dx4'h but i can go as high as 6'. I have one supersonic cristal storm auto im using to get my feet wet. its 5 days old and im using FF happy frog potting soil and a pioner IV jr T5 2ft 4bulb light.

so my question is where do i go from here i want to up grade my room a bit.

what kind of nutrients?

im thinking of ordering a 400w lumatek ballast with a hortilux hps bulb. im not sure about what kind of hood to get?

what kind of fan and filter would be good?

im basically looking for help in all areas thank you

for a fan you could go with something as simple as computer fans or you could invest a few bucks in can fans or in line fans

as far as hood im not really sure

if you search this site for filters as well as search youtube im sure you can find 4000000 diy carbon filter system ( helluva lot cheaper than buying )

this is a great website.. take a few minutes and do a few searches..you'd be amazed at the wealth of information provided here.

Have you checked out the grow room and design section here? You can probably find answers to a couple questions there. Setup you got now looks okay. If that's an auto you should look into an hps bulb though. I used a 400w mh/hps light in a diy room about the size you have and had great results. I'm sure you're going to get a ton of help with this. Good luck

A 400W Digital Lumatek Ballast with boost function is a good start... However despite Hortilux being great !! They are meant for use with Magnetic (Old-School ballasts) .. You'd be better off using the 400W Lumatek ballast with a 400W Digi-lux bulb, the 2 bulbs are more or less the same in terms of light output and wavelength ,,, But Hortilux operates at a lower freq. .. as does the Magnetic ballasts and the Digilux operates at a higher freq. .. like the Digital Ballasts... When the bulbs are matched with the correct type of ballast the bulbs life will be prolonged, and neither bulb will appear to flicker (look through video camera HD) ... Also a 6" or 8" In-Line fan with a 6" or 8" Carbon filter will see your light/temps are cooled well !! - STELTHY

Thanks stelthy man. i'll go with the digi-lux. so 4inch fan and carbon filter is to small? i was looking at the can 9000 filter.

Yeah a 4" is IMO to small to cool a 400.. I found it insanely hard to keep a 250 cool with a 4" In-Line fan.. a high CFM shifting 6" In-line Fan + 6" Carbon filter will do the trick.. but for optimum performance an 8" In-Line Fan and Carbon Filter will be a great addition... "as I found out!!" .. and will cool the light/room perfectly and also generate less noise of air-movement etc... whilst doing so! 'Systemair' are pretty good for in-line fans ... hope thats helpful - STELTHY

Thanks again stelthy you've been very helpful. I ordered a phresh filter 400cfm, a sunleaves inline fan 409cfm 6" and the digi-lux bulbs. So that should be enough for what I got going now. I have a co2 tank I might add that but not sure yet

so this is some new pics. i started some new seeds 1 freebie, 1 lsd, and 1white russion. the seedling is a supersonic cristal storm 12 days old. I added some fans but i'm wonerding if the seedling is stressed it hasnt done much and i'm also wondering if I should lower the light?
