- I bought a slab of 1'' rockwool
- I have a seed that's germinating. Looking good so far, probably will root in 2-3 days.
- I am going to follow the directions of the rockwool (check pH levels, don't oversoak, etc) and leave it in a little plastic pan with some water on the bottom.
- I have 2 6500k CFL's that will run 18/6 for vegetation.
- Once it gets bigger, outgrows rockwool, i will probably upgrade the 1" to 4" or 6".
- After that, I have questions, should i just throw the girl into some MG? continue to let it flower (then adjust lights to 2000-3000k?)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

For the first 2 weeks i do 24 hours of light it wont hurt them
i'll take that into consideration. does all else seem okay? i really don't want to make things too hard. would the rockwool cube be okay sitting in a little puddle of water in like a flat gladware container?

I'm pretty new to growing alsp. so don't take my advice over some of the other more experianced guys. But I'm pretty sure that once a plant is rooted in a rockwool cube it is there for good. If you tried to take it out of the cube you would destroy the root system. The only way that I can think of to put it into a larger cube, would be to cut out a hole in the bigger cube. And put the smaller one into it. Also how many watts are the CFLs that you are using? Also you may want to start a few more seeds. It would really suck to do all of the work for one plant, and it turns out to be a male.

So you are planning to veg in the rockwool(hydroponically)????,then throw in soil to flower????........why?? and You can't just leave roots submerged in water they will rot if the water is not aerated.

It's actually good to help sustain good growth, nice suggestion for him. There is some debate as to the use of 24 hrs light isn't "natural" and the plant needs to rest.. well, growing in hydrotron with nutes and under artificial light isn't "natural" either, but it works well... so the 24 hrs of light just forces the plant to always be growing make sure you are watering accordingly and you can run that lighting set up for your mothers permanantly.

the rockwool cubes have holes cut in them so you can transplant a 1" cube into either a 4 or 6" cube it just slides in.

yuppers.

sounds like you have most of your stuff worked out... you can go 24 7 with the lights as mentioned, but most people use 18/6.. the 24-7 I think helps get your plants bigger faster...it is a good idea.

Get the right nutes though, they aren't that expensive for a good 3 part set of them.. I think you can get a 4 liters of each for $30 total. I haven't used miracle growI can't tell you if it works or not, but I don't hear all good things on it.

Good luck man.
