First time and SUPER CONFUSED!

Hi All...

This is my first grow. I initially was going to do the aerogarden route via aeroweed.info however I now want to transition to soil. Right now these guys have been growing for four weeks. I have trimmed them once. They are Blue Dream and GSC Extreme from ILGM

I keep the ph around 6
nutrient ppm has been around 900
I have been adding cal mag and hydroguard weekly.

Any advice? Should I continue this out in the AG since it's gone for so long?

I would make an attempt to safely transfer them to soil. That light is most likely not powerful enough to flower not to mention when they stretch, they will easily double in height. The light looks like it can be raised a bit but it won't do you any favors. After you transfer them into your soil, give them a week or so to recover before you do anything else.

Thank you. The initial plan was on week 5 to remove the AG grow light. Move the unit into my grow tent with lights, filter, etc. My fear is trying to move them as the roots are massive.

That may be a better idea! They seem to be growing very well, you've done well so far.

In theory you could plop that thing under the proper light. What size is that res? Seems like it would be to small honestly.

Are you even able to get them out? It looks like you would have to pull the top through the hole?

If you want to do hydro look into dwc. AG is good for Herb garden and salads but that's about it for me personally. I know some have done it somewhat successfully but I've seen way more not so good/ really bad results

Take clones, root and put them in soil. I'm with @Failmore I can't see how you could get them out of that with the root mass they must have now. Coming from NFT rails I can't imagine you'd have enough liquid in there by the time they reach maturity. So to be safe take clones so you don't lose these.

First lower the PPM.

Those kinds of "Grow Systems" are not good for growing cannabis. But seeing how you want to move to soil you must have come to that same conclusion.

I would not try and transplant those to soil. I'd flip them now before they get too big and flower them under a better light.

Here's an alternative but I'm in no way recommending it. I've been growing a very long time so something I might be successful at might not be successful for someone else.

I'd trim the roots and transplant into 3 gallon pots of coco. Take a few clones and root them in that contraption you're using for the next crop. Then veg for another couple weeks and flower. I've done exactly that when moving plants from DWC to coco.

Next grow don't use that thing.

If you are willing to sacrifice the top of the AG unit, you could cut it to free the roots, then re-pot. The roots of those two may be pretty intertwined already though. If you want to save the top of the unit, clones as suggested above is a better route. Trying to pull either the top or the rootball through the small opening is going to be very hard on the plant.

Moving plants between hydro and traditional systems (e.g. AG to soil) can work but my experience is the growth lags and the plants are pretty unhappy for a bit as the roots and plant acclimate to a very different environment.

Right in order to get them out I am going to kill alot of roots. It hold a gallon of water. One thing I do know is that going forward I will start them (the first two to three weeks) and then transplant them to soil.

Just start in Jiffy Pellets and drop those in soil when they are ready.

Thank you so much... The suck part is I really bought into being able to use the AG's and bought 4 of them for just this purpose. So now, I am going to start just start them in the AG's nd move to soil going forward.

As far as what I already have I think the best thing I can do is just remove the AG grow light and move the two plants to my grow tent and let initiate flowing. I will keep posting on here as I go further and further down this rabbit hole.

All in all I feel pretty deflated. There are so many other groups that promote AG Cannabis growing and I wish I had found this site sooner, I would have literally saved thousands of dollars as just the investment on four bouny's was quite a bit. Oh well, you live and learn right? Going to try and salvage this grown and moving forward soil will be my friend. As far as these AG's I guess I will keep two and try to sell two. LOL what a mess

You could convert them to clones and grow hydro. Just make your own top with holes for net pots. But you sure don't need 4.

Your plants are nice and healthy. So hopefully it works out.

That's why coco is a better medium to use if moving from hydro. It's not an ideal solution but in my experience plants respond better to coco than soil when moving to a solid medium from hydro.

Use one per plant. But you definitely want to use better lighting.

You bought 4 of those wifi joints? Damn I hope u can return them that's over 1k! I love them things but the cheaper systems are just as good imo (even those idoo joints)

That looks beautiful. I have two of them that I use for food. So I have a total of 6. Now four will be used for food and I will just start my babies in a bounty and transfer after two weeks to soil

I love Jiffy pellets.

I always start my seeds and clones in Jiffy pellets. I had a couple thousand last season and it worked like a charm.

Here's a tip for seeds and clones in Jiffy's
- Use Jiffy #7. Not the small or jumbo. (the small are too small, and the large stay too wet and drown the roots)
- A plastic takeout container is good enough for a few plugs. Don't use a big ass tray for only a few.
- Seeds: Once you hydrate the pellets, dig a little 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep hole with a chop stick and drop a seed in it. Cover it up lightly, not tight.
- Clones: Scrape 1/2 inch off the bottom of the cut. Dip in cloning gel/powder, and sink the clone as deep as you can in the pellet.
- Always water from the bottom (1/4 inch). Put them in a tray and water the tray for 3 weeks. No food until 4 and then just 1/4 strength.
- Let the tray go dry for a day or two for the first couple weeks, then keep a bit of water in the bottom (A BIT!).
- Plant them deep in soil.

I suggest new growers start with a good supersoil. That way you only have to water without needing to feed until you flip to flower.

Edit: And get a light. Nothing big unless you want a big plant.
