First Time, 12/12 from seed, SOG, Aeroponics: 3+ strains

And my camera broke so... Shit.

I'll take more pictures when I get a new one, but at the moment everything has sexed except one little young'n. Topped two of them today (both the northern lights) cuz they were getting too tall. Tried to turn the tops into clones. We'll see how that goes.

Made a cloner, still have a little bit to go before it's operational, but it should be pretty handy given I'll probably end up trimming these girls quite a bit. I'm at day.... 32?

So just for the record, first showed definite sex at day 24, everyone finished probably day 30, but most were done near the beginning of that stretch.

When I have a plant that out grows the others I top it. That slows it down for a few days then I take the new growth and train it to grow sideways.

GOOD GOD! Finally an update. I got my camera fixed so here's some pictures. This is day 38 (pics from day 37).

3 of the girls were topped, and each top was replanted, the total number now being 16. That is, 13 actual females and 3 clones which may or may not live.

I'm currently working with what I think was a nitrogen deficiency, lots of leaves turning yellow, but I think it's getting better. My PPM is up to around 600 now, all bloom.

I've made a little cloning chamber in the bottom there. I took some blackout fabric, made it into a box with a velcro opening flap. It gets closed when the main lights turn off and I've got 2x 100W CFLs inside on 24/0.

Basically they're all looking good. There's one female left of the unidentified strain, and it's not doing too well, seems like it just has different needs than everyone else. The big bud that turned out female is fucking phenomenal! The picture of the flower is it.

Now your moving right along bud. Lookin good!
You got a perpetual thing going on.

So you have what, about 15 females?
That Big Bud, is that Sensi seeds strain?

16 theoretically. The 3 clones don't look like they're really gonna do much so make that 13, then the unknown strain is pretty much dying and I don't seem to be able to do anything to stop it. So really let's call it 12 females.

4x Northern Lights
2x Big Bud
1x Kush (?)
5x Bubblegum

The Big Bud is from marijuana-seeds.nl - I thought it was going to be the crappiest. Only 3 of the 10 seeds germinated. 2 turned out to be female and they are both just tearing shit up now, so apparently I was wrong. I'd like to clone, but the better of the two honestly doesn't really have any potential clones on it. Too bad. :-/

The northern lights just got way too tall too fast, so I ended up topping two of them. Otherwise, they're the second best looking (as far as amount of buds goes).

Bubblegum is pretty nice as far as height, seems pretty average as far as buds. The kush I'm thinking is not going to give me that much in the end.

I'm not sure if I would necessarily call this a perpetual. There's not enough room or light to really veg in that little cloning chamber. I'll probably end up doing something with the clones I currently have, then when I'm getting close to harvest I'll put a new batch in there to get ready to move in once the harvest is over.

Almost perpetual...

I dont know man, I have done it with 36" flower and 19" for clone/veg and started training early.
Heres a shot of the cab I used in a perpetual grow. I ran 4 grows back to back taking clones and vegging them while the others were flowering.

The journal is my LED/T5/400W Cabinet link below.

Hmmm.... I could see it with training, but if I were, for example, to take the clones that I have right now and try to keep them until I'm done with the harvest, they would be vegging for 2 months. Which isn't THAT much, but I'm not sure I can see 32 plants vegged for 2 months fitting in that little space.

I'll probably just take the best ones from this, make some mothers, then about a month down the line take more clones from my favorite and veg them for the last month of flowering, then just switch them over.

That said, if I had another entire cabinet like your's I would most definitely be doing a perpetual in probably the exact same way.

Haha, oh shit. I didn't realize you flowered in there too! I was just reading through your journal. You trained the fuck out of those ladies!

Yea man, I started more then I needed. Then watched them and picked the best ones, trained them and tossed the runts. When I harvested I moved the babes up and started flowering. I found I could take clones two weeks into flower without any adverse effects. With one week to root that left me with 5 weeks to veg.

I think you can do it.

Been a while since an update, it's day... 12+30+19 = 61. I'll post pictures later. One of the big buds hermied, so it had to go. I'm posting because of the other one.

So now, about a month into flowering, everything else has at least some level of trichomes already, most of them have a lot. But the big bud, despite having what seem to be the biggest buds, doesn't seem to have any trichomes at all. I'm wondering what I should do. I'm sure it'll develop some, but is is even worth leaving in there, or would it be better to give that space to something that's got some nice frosty crystals?

I would say leave it.
The reason is I have done something similar with different strains and my white widow at week 6 had very few trichs compared to the Apollo that was next to it. I pulled a couple WW for the space and left one. That plant turned out to be the biggest and stoniest of the bunch. It took a couple weeks longer then the others but really produced.

I dont know if thays the case here, but you got clones right? Dont you want to know what they will do? You will be able to tell by growing out there mother.

All the clones died hahahaha..... I think it was partly the fact that I took them so far into flowering and part the lack of humidity dome for so long. I'll leave it I guess, see what happens.

Okay, it has been a while. Only a couple of weeks until harvest. There are lots of thing I would have done differently now in retrospect.

The whole 12/12 from seed thing had its ups and downs. I don't think I would do it again unless I had feminized seeds, and I would do all one strain. The non-uniformity killed me, every time one strain gets happy the other one goes out of whack.

I can't really judge how much I'm gonna pull off this, as its my first time, but it would be safe to say that I'm pretty sure none of the plants got to 1 oz. Maybe close on one of them, probably not.

Right on man.

Lookin good for first grow. There are things you just have to learn on your own because all grow areas are different. Temps humidity and so forth. All in all I have seen a lot worse. My guess in regards to weight? about 4 or 5 oz's.

You mentioned height issues, It could have been a lot harder if you kept those clones.
Now you have learned first hand what I was talking about. Look into a screen man. It helps even out the canopy big time.

BTW, I ran a floro grow, started one from clone and let the other veg for two weeks. I got three times as much from the plant that vegged for two weeks.

Heres a pic,

The one on the right vegged for two weeks, then I added the second one and flipped to 12/12

Nice to see you're still with me cruzer, haha. I would be happy if I got 5 oz. I think I might if it weren't for the few that are pretty damn skinny.

Anyways, yeah I was actually strongly considering doing a ScroG sort of thing next depending on what options I have for plants. I really wanted to fill up the whole 32 site unit, but I'm not sure that's really a possibility anymore. At least not right now. If I did fill it up completely I would likely try to go straight to 12/12 again to keep them all short, but as is I'm definitely gonna give some veg time next go around. Your picture just kind of underscores what I think I was already feeling about veg time.

So I'm flushing now. Added some Clearex to see if it would leech the nutrients out. Also I should mention I've been putting some Sweet Grape in multiple time a week for the past 2-3 weeks. We'll see what that ends up doing.

It's hard to decide when to flush because all the strains are finishing differently. The northern lights is all done as far as I'm concerned so I'm just waiting for the flush to pick that. The bubblegum is taking a bit longer, still a lot of white pistles on some of them, but there's at least one that pretty much wants to go. The bag seed is looking very very crystally (possibly the most) but it's taking longer to go - almost all the pistles are white.

Pics as this process moves further along.

you dont want to run the clearex for more than 24 hours. After that just use tap.
After a week of that you can cut. If you want to leave the others in to finish you can but just start the nutes back real low like 1/4 strength the first week or they will burn.

Oh word, thanks for the tip. I would've left it in there the whole time if you hadn't said anything.

And RO is better than tap, right? Or is there some reason to use tap during flushing?

It dosent matter, It really there just to supply water while the plant uses up the rest ot its stored nutes.

Also, what is that reflective material you have on lid of the aeroponics unit in your journal?
Which one? my current journal has sheet metal ducting bent into shape.
I have used oven liners in the past.
