So they are 6 weeks old today. I changed out water and allas well as set the lights down to 20/4( been stepping down every 3 weeks.) All plants were around 9 inches tall when I changed water. I left my light to far away for 5 hours and when I came back the two middle plants had stretched a couple inches.

Also since t5 is linear and not a single point of light. You should have it 2-4 inches from canopy for best results. ( inverse square law).

They look good.

OK so today is day 1 of week 7 in veg. I took out 2 plants last night that were males. Unfortunately one was a skunk plant.... I still have 4 plants looking like girls. So should I try 4 plants scrog in 8 square feet or less.

I think I should have worded that differently. I know that I could fill in 8 square feet. But would I yield more with less plants in this space. Its too hot where I live and I can't grow in the summer without killing my power bill. " sucker shoot pruning"? Explain please

For the way I grow I wouldn't go more than 1 plant for every 2 square feet as a rule of thumb. But this varies so much on variety, grow room, style of growing. I top once when young, prune sucker shoots and LST. For now I would make the most of what you have to fill in the 8 ft2.

I prune off the low shoots which are buried under the main canopy, knowing that they will never get a decent dose of light. It keeps the plant from getting too bushy, and focuses resources to buds in full lighting. Similar to pruning side shoots on tomatoe plants.

OK. So my plants are between 8 and 12" they were topped at 6 inches. Trim everything below the topping point? I.e everything from half down?

but but I can't see. You want a blind man to tell you where to prune side shoots? LOL new pics would say a lot.

Your plants are really bushy and lush, nice. I would trim out all of the lower skinny thin shoots that are not reaching the top of the canopy. Let the plant focus its energy on the tops which are getting direct light. Do this periodically as it becomes obvious which ones are going to be shaded as the plant grows up.
Make sure you have a small oscillating fan blowing under and through the canopy.

Thanks man and yea I trimmed a bunch tonight. Just tryna figure out how imma pit this screen in.I got a fan in there. You think I would def have to use a screen with these t5s

The screen would help to make a nice even canopy and make the most of the nlighting. If you don't do a scrog screen, you will still need supports. Its easy to build a self supporting frame out of pvc pipe.

So my prized plant... the biggest one that looked like a tree is gone... my net pot fell threw the lid and screwed it all up. Any how I have 3 left though I'm prolly gonna take 1 more down. I'll have 4 square feet per plant. How's that sound?

I have a PVC frame with2×2 netting made from mason line. Should I weave the stems through the net? Or should I pull them under the level of the net and " twist tie" them down
