so its not a flooded area but water does sit stagnate after heavy rains and you deff sink down anywhere from 3 to 6 inches when you walk through.Grass and ferns grow here like its there job deff alot of clay in the soilwe are up in the northeast here were the snow is not usaly all gone untill april.i will be starting clones and hoping to veg them out to be about 2-3 feet tall before they go outdoors. so i have a dilemma should i do a raised bed with a circumference of 3 or 4 feet with a hight of 1-2 feet(they say the first 20" are the most inportant) or do a standard "swamp tube" with a circumference of 1-2 feet 3-4 feet tall. both bottomless im looking to grow big mother fuckers here..i will be using coco and native soil with lots of lime as a medium with some perlite and manure other additive?(would love to here suggestions) also heavy harvest as my slow release fert... security and transportation is not an issue.. deer and moose are deff in the area and i think i will be trying to fence of with chicken wire and fishing string as much as possible maybe some dog hair ?as for insects and slugs i will be using that organic red pepper concentrate

it seems like everyone does skinny and tall witch i would thing would bind the roots up and cause then to dig deeper into the wetness and rot out

yea and were talking tomatoes if ya know what i mean

Correct me if im wrong with anything i say and any input would be greatly appreciated

A few things to think about:

If you spray buds with red pepper, when you smoke them you're going to have a bad time.
AN products cost more than they should.
If a deer is hungry a fence of chicken wire and dog fur wont stop it.
I used bottomless DIY smart pots last year, I also have hard rocky clay soil under them...they didn't really grow into the ground that much...

I have read about a swamp grower on another board...grew huge plants using burlap bags..

the red pepper would only be used prior budding... did you till and turn the soil under the pots before you put them there? how big were your pots?i agree the deer might still get to them but what to do to keep them out?

The ones without bottoms were about 75 gallons. I didn't do any tilling...I really didn't want them to grow into the soil as it's a bit too acidic ..

The deer here don't really eat cannabis...I have had like 2 or 3 missing branches...but they have other shit to eat.. Deer can jump high but not long...two fences?
