first small grow

i used to help other people with their large scale growing, and now im looking to set up something for my friend who just got MMJ.
he has a 7.75' x 3' x 6' closet in which to work and only wants to grow 6 plants.
should i set it up in one room with a 400 switchable MH/HPS or would a two room set up with a 4 tube 2' florescent for flowering and a 400 watt HPS for flowering. Two room sounds like it would be overkill for this few plants and him being a solo smoker.
im thinking about something like this for one room

now im not sure if this would be overkill on wattage especially if we do two rooms.

I think that separate veg. and flower rooms are much more efficient and if you have the space, the way to go. Fleuros. for veg, HID for flower. Pretty basic setup

400w flower room is perfect for the solo patient. 4-4' fleuros is what I'd recommend as a minimum for veg.

I would say two rooms a veg and a flower room works for me i am growing about six plants at a time and find a 24w t5 works for the little ones after a week i move them to the 50w t5 and then to the 150w for the flowering i find that it helps to get mj about every 2 weeks with a 12 weeks grow 4 weeks of veg and 8 flowering

i would say nothing below 250-300w for flowering, t5s are pretty good for starting them also
