First Plant Ready to Harvest..I think?

Finally, somewhere I can meet other growers! My Grandma was diagnosed with Cancer (she is blind with Alzhiemers as well) and my Grandpa started studying how to grow, got all the equipment and started a plant. He passed away right before I switched to flowering.

I'm new to growing plants in general, but I love it and want to succeed.

Here is some info on the grow:

Organic soil

Nutrient fed for veg., but I never added
nutrients since: I just use filtered water.

Started about 7 months ago

No training as my Grandpa just wanted to see if he could do it successfully

Since I took over-I bougt two grow tents: 2x2x4 and 3x3x5'2".

The plant is now in the bigger tent with a fan blowing for circulation.

Here is a picture of the plant. I have thought about harvesting, but I am not really seeing any Amber Trichomes. Any advice would help. The plant looks a lot smaller than ones I see as far as bushy- is that because it was in an open room with an overhead light?

Unfortunately, it's a seed my guy gave me and he got it from an ounce he bought awhile back. She has been flowering since later November, so roughly 5 months. Seems forever, but I think changing conditions and everything might have slowed the grow.

Dude cut that silly thing down. Look up training for you next grow- learn about topping and low stress training. No plant should take that long to flower. Hell all the leaves have already been cut off, cut it down.

Yah, they started dying towards the end, it was the last thing my Grandpa invested time into before he died, he didn't care about training and all that and I lived 4 hours away, so, I could only do so much. Do you grow Hydro or soil?

It’s looks like it already dried out. If not, chop it, hand It up in the same tent you have it in with the lights OFF for about 7 days. Try to keep the temp around 65 degrees, 50% humidity. Afterward cut the buds off and throw them in a jar. Open the jar about 6 times a day for the first week. 2nd week about 2-3 times. 3rd week not at all. 4th week ready to smoke. I don’t anticipate you doing this with the bud you have now, but since you plan on growing in the future, keep it for records.

I’m not gonna argue with that. It’s just the way I do it, and never had any issues. If you feel there’s a better way by all means please jump in. I’m always willing to do and learn new things.

I get awesome results just opening once a day the first week or two and every few days after that for a month then leave them sealed unless im pulling some out to prepare for the week (I keep about an eighth of every strain ground up ready to smoke). I cure in 5 gallon buckets that are 30-50% filled so its easy to gently shake the buckets and get everything stirred up and the extra air volume helps avoid the need to open so frequently. When i used jars I still only did 2x a day the first week then once a day for a week then every few days for a month after that.

Personally I like my cure to be anywhere from 3 months to multiple years.... The better the bud the longer I like it cured which is a bitter sweet situation to be in.

I agree with that process. Will try your method when my harvest is ready in about 3 weeks. Thanks for the info.

Anytime.... seriously curing in 5 gallon buckets is sooooo much easier. You do have to have the balls to not be "incredibly gentle" with the buds when you shake a 5 gallon bucket but is nothing to extreme.

For sure- I have a mini humidifier and tested it while I just napped and its sitting at 50 in the tent. I started germinating and I'll be start to finish growing two myself with nutrients and training. So- I can't smoke the top buds?

First off, Welcome to RIU!

Get a microscope or loupe of amazon and check the trichs.

If there are some amber and mostly cloudy then you can chop it.

The good news is your not going to have to do much trimming.

You can smoke all the buds as long as there is no mould in them.

Onwards and upwards.

Sorry to hear about your Grandad and hope the herb helps your Grandma.

Wow- thanks dude. It is nice to see people actually care. I know the plant is not huge by any meana- but under the rough circumstances she was put through and no feeding, but filtered water she looks alright. I am stoked for my next grow!! Training and all the fun stuff and carry on his mystery strain.

My thoughts, exactly! You also spelled "any" wrong. :D
Haha- right- all the leaves started dying and the buds got double in size. I know the plant isn't dried out because the stem are flush green and are flexible. Thanks everyone. I'll keep yall updated when my seeds pop for this next solo grow. *cross fingers.*

Oh yah- I got a medicinal card in the Midwest here. I don't have the luxury of a warm climate. The RSO works wonders for her pain. Thanks again- if you don't mind could we keep in touch? I'll try not to ask a million questions- Just if I need minor tips. Cheers mate.

Hey guys - here is a picture of her from Feb. 7th March 17-27th-April 7th..why did the leaves die so progressively fast? To fatten the buds? Just referencing for my next grow and what not. I did some study and she started in late October. My bad for the misleading facts.

What kind of buckets do you use?
