First indoor grow

After my first ever grow went horribly south outside, I decided to go inside this time for my second try. Was looking to get opinions on how she is turning out... this is a month old Auto White Widow plant.

How would I prevent that? I've researched low stress training but I'm confused as to how I would bend that "main limb" or if I even should.
That or try putting it in flower at a shorter height. As for bending the main stock. The top 4-7" of the plant is more flexible then below that point. Take a stick and put on one side of the plant. Run string off the stick. Tie to the stalk right below the flexible part. You can tell by touch if it'll bend and what point the stalk gets tough. The stick has to be stout and anchored. You might want to run it off the wall.

Opposite side. Take a twist tie. Make a loop around the stem about 2" from the tip top. String to the loop. Straight down to the pot.

Pull the string gently down till you get about a 45° angle in the stem. Pulling against the opposite string anchor. Next day you can pull it close to 90°. Doing that alone will save about 4" in height. If she keeps stretching. Tie down the new growth. Rinse, repeat.

The title just clicked with me. "Auto"

I've never grown an Auto plant. But if an automatic white widow gets that's tall and lanky. Man....That would have pissed me off....bad.

Yes. She went into flower about a week ago
well that kinda explains the height. right before flowering happens it will start to grow like crazy, till the initial flowering starts. Total height is hard to say. How I knew cause I saw the preflower at the top

Are you supposed to top Autoflowers? I thought I didn't have to
Yeah i wouldnt top the auto. Can stunt the growth bad and lose potential weight. On a photo period plant its no problem. Autos r pretty fragile during stress

I'm no expert on autos, but topping has little to do with flowering and more to do with height management and building a canopy (bushing out your plants). Cuz now you have that one out of control top dictating your main light height, instead of a bunch of colas at similar heights. Some supplemental light for that lower bush might help you this time around.

Oh, see, I said I was no expert on em! What about LST? Hopefully auto guys have options to deal with this. Maybe a good anti stress supp.

see that's the thing... I looked up LST but I was nervous to try it on an Auto Flower plant with such a short life cycle... I really just don't understand why the one "main cola/stem" is sooo much taller than the rest?

I've been keeping light 6 inches or closer(when growing overnight). And I've been using a full spectrum LED light.

On a side note with lighting as well, I've been running with a 24-hr light cycle with the plant being Auto.

LEDs 6 inches is too close imo. And from personal experience you can top autos they just lose some veg growth. Not all react as sensitive.

Because that's the natural structure of a cannabis plant. when left un-topped. christmas tree like structure. some do it more than others. But lighting etc.. come into play aswell.
