first hydro grow journal-bagseed

well I'm kinda new to the forums but ive been trolling around this site for awhile now and thought id post my new grow up here.
heres my supplies basically what im using

























as you can see im using bc nutes, ive got a 600w hps cooltube (my favorite part) im using 4inch net pots with hydroton rocks and rockwool as my medium my setup is kinda aeroponic but not truly since its not a fine mist but ill post pics of that a little later. im running 2 different but identical grows along side of each other. they were started the 8/17 and im really pleased with the progress. I was kinda impatient so i went ahead and went 1/4 strength nutes on one 2 days ago and went 1/4 strength on the other today after i realized they getting burned at all . they are under 4 4ft 32watt 5000k fluoros for veg at the moment but i plan on buying some plant and aquarium bulbs at walmart when i get around to it they are supposed to have a better balance of blue and red light. i plan on flowering these plants as soon as i think they are a reasonable height maybe 6 inches so that i veg my next batch while they are flowering

im growing with bagseed at the moment but i have some seeds in the mail from seedboutique i got green spirit feminized, ill let yall know how that goes when they get here

i havent set up the flowering room yet but its about 10x bigger than the closet that the veg room is in so ill have more room to work with

anyone with any questions feel free to post i dont care at all im just here to learn and make my shit as good as possible, if im gonna do something i might as well do it right. any and all input or criticism is welcome

ok so i got around to taking pics of my actual hydro set up and of course the battery died and the charger for my camera is 280 miles away, hurray me. but i did manage to get pics of the one of 2 of the setups though they are nearly identical. i ran a 24 hr light cycle for the first few days and i switched to 18/6 today gonna give them time to rest and try to give them the least amount of stress.

heres the pump, it basically pumps water straight up to the pvc pipes


heres what waters them, im running 360 degree sprayers that is stuck in holes that i drilled straight into the pvc. pressure doesnt seem to be a problem and it seems to be working well so far

im really excited everything seems to be goin well but unless i can find a charger i wont be bringing any more pics for awhile but ill try to keep things updated as much as possible

heres my next update. i corrected the ph because i felt it was running high at around 6.5 since my roommate is retarded this wouldnt have been necessary if he hadnt ph up'ed it from 5.8 which is pretty irritating but now its around 5.8-6.0 so whatever i fixed it

these guys were put in there 3 or 4 days later one died so i pulled it but all else is well they have been on nutes for a few days and my roommate has a really bad habit of telling me what i want to hear and not what is actually goin on so i have no idea how much nutes are in there rez but they arent dead yet but heres a looksie

ok im gonna post in the design and set up area to put im designing my flowering set up right now and im looking for a little input. i know that for space and outright efficiency that a vertical grow is the best way to go but i cant do that right now so i figure the best way to increase surface area would be to slant the 2 grow tubes , ill call them tubes for now for lack of a better term, to form a v. i would slant them at a 30-40 degree angle. The rez will be at the bottom. I would use a sort of nft set up for this with water being pump to the top and letting it run down with gravity. it would look something like this


in order to further increase yield i want to scrog this possibly. can anyone tell me problems i might i have or issues i might run into with this set up.

one more question using an nft technique would i always run the pump or run it on/off or only a few times a day i know this depends on the medium which would be hydroton rocks so keep that in mind. thanks ahead of time

ok so today i went to wally world and got 4 ft fluoros that are for aquariums/plants. supposedly they put out more red and blue light the bulbs i replaced seemed to put out more white light but i want to put in a spectrum that maximizes everything. i also installed an airstone in both rezzes. my hope in that is to keep the air mixed and more so to put on more oxygen in the water.

so far so good i know its a long way to finish but its happy growin for now

ok so disaster has struck once again. the grow is ok but my back door is F@#$ed up. Someone decided that they wanted my tv, computer monitor and camera more than me, kicked in my door and took them. Thank god i had the sense to dead bolt my grow closet door or id be even more upset. whats worse is i had to file a police report and i had pigs running around my house. good news is they were none the wiser to what was goin on. i have the room sealed off extremely well. Bad news is picture updates will no longer be possible till i get a new camera and honestly i dont know when ill be able to afford one.

The plants are looking extremely healthy and flourishing. i think when i get back from vacation this weekend im gonna flush the tank or i may wait one more week and just flush when i put them in the flowering room.

All in all everything could be worse. all is not lost and i got my dog back even though she was scared shitless. i can replace tvs and shit but not my black lab.

ok its been a few days since my last update. the plants are looking extremely healthy and my are they flourishing. about to start on a ventilation system. ive ordered 3 squirrel cage fans that are gonna be more enough for my 2 grow rooms. its really getting down to crunch time on the flowering room seeing as im moving my plants to flower within the next week or too. i did some test runs with no ventilation and the door close with the 600w hps on just to see how hot it would get on its own. it maxed at 99 degree's in the room. so ventilation will be a top priority.

anyone on a side note ever drilled holes in the side of their house for ventilation and/or installed a dryer vent. please let me know any insight is gonna affect my end result

My seeds came in and im really excited. i got green spirit feminized and it came with original haze x skunk#1. if anyone has any thing to say about either of the strains let me know i figure the haze is gonna take a lot longer to flower but thats about all i know about that strain

i just click advanced options, click the paperclip its right next to the font and sizes and stuff. then upload your stuff, then insert its pretty easy once you get the hang of it. uploading it to my computer usually takes longer.

but thats for being the first person to respond to my journal hope you enjoy. right now im camera challenged and im having to bum a computer because my shit got jacked but im doin the best i can with what i got.

what type of file format are they and thanks for the rep. the only time i had to resize was when i tried to use a format that could only be so big. i changed the format to jpeg and it went right in. i honestly dont know shit about resizing pics, i just fiddle with whatever im viewing them with till it lets me. i generally just right click and see if i can figure it out from there. glad i could help and good luck getting those pics up. what are ya trying to post pics of?

nice set-up, I don't know about the NFT systems, that really sucks you can't take more pics!! The more D/O you can get in the res the better. Do you have the spayers on a timer?

yea it does suck no pics for now, but i do ahve a friend who is gonna let me borrow his camera so hopefully its compatible, cross your fingers. And yes i have the sprayers (actually the pumps) on a timer i run them 15 mins on 15 mins off. and the plants seem to like it really well. what do you mean my d/o maybe im just retarded but i cant figure that out.

and thanks for the compliments camaro. i saw your pic but i couldnt see it lol. it was reallllllly small. but im glad i was able to help ya out. thanks for the posting its good to know ppl are lookin in on what im doin.

I decided to go ahead and give an update on my babies situation. My new seeds came in yesterday and so ill be moving my current vegging batch to flower very soon. tonight is supposed to ventilation set up night. its gonna be a blast i have 3 squirrel cage fans i got off ebay that should come in soon and will be coolin the cooltube and all the rooms. but anyways my babies are a little over 2 weeks old and are all in between 5 and 6 inches and very bushy. they are really lookin healthy and i cant wait to move them to flower. since they are bagseed i can only hope for a short flowering time but who knows
