First Harvest Questions

Hello all I am about to harvest for my first time. I have picked some sample buds off and pruned them up. I am wondering if people remove all and every bit of fan leaves from their buds?

Also I have read to let the plants sit in darkness for 48 hours proceeding, and then chop before lights come on. Is this a common and effective practice..

Lastly I got some new mason jars, brand new, clean but they smell in them. Do you suggest washing them prior to use.

Any other tips would be appreciated.

i would cut the leavesoff.. and i also read about letting em sit before harvest, and what i have come up with is that low temp and high humidity is what u need before harvest, not necessarily darkness. anddddd the mason jar thing, i am harvest soon as well, and i would clean out my jars, make sure everything is PERFECT.
