First Growbox

I have a grow box set up that currently holds 8 plants plus a seedling. There are 4 dank and 4 30-bud plants. The seedling is also dank. Yesterday i moved them from a
single box to a double stacked box. Right now they are under five 25w CFL's, but now that they are further away from the light i plan on adding more CFL's. They are
in their 4th week of the vegetative stage.

How many CFL's should i use at a distance of 2-3 feet?

I also have two HPS ballast setup to help with flowering. Should i just go ahead and turn the HPS lights on now or will that just enduce flowering?

Here are some pics of the plants at 3 weeks old(vegetative) in and out of their growbox.

yes they are too for away.I have my little ones under a 250 hps.at about 2.5 ft. you should be able to let them almost th t8's touch them. I also use 75 watt compact flouresent bulbs. good low heat.

your little ones:blsmoke: look good.over watering will cause them to wilt while green then die .A good fan will help with evaporation

probably just the cfl's. i have two 100 watt hps lights. i dunno if even worth adding them, since they're only 100 watts. Does anyone know?

Does anyone know if trimming off all of a plants larger leaves went entering the the flowering stage will help in producing bigger buds by allowing them more light?

Don't cut off the fan leaves, the plant needs them to absorb energy from the light. Try some lst to get more light to the lower areas.

Unless you have an auto-flowering strain (unlikely) you must switch the light cycle to 12/12 in order to start flowering. But HPS does have the ideal spectrum for flowering.

Fan leaves are the big leaves that start at the bottom and go up the plant in pairs. In other words, ALL the big leaves are fan leaves.

When the plant starts growing, all you get are fan leaves until it's a few weeks old and shoots start appearing at the nodes.

I know it looks like the fan leaves are covering the shoots and blocking out their light, but they are needed to absorb as much energy as possible from the light (that's why they are big and fan out)

After 5 days of 12/12, you can now clearly tell the 1 male from the 2 females. here are some pics of the male. We trashed the plant after this to make room for the 2 females.
