First grow

Just to keep a journal.. so it won't have a lot of details and stuff.

Started my seedlings today :) they have germed about yesterday.. which makes it a total 2.5 days to germinate both. Planted them in compost and waiting for them to show up. No photos as of yet (I was afraid it might damage the root)

Oh well.. now they're in the soil and stuff.. shouldn't be long before they come up though since one already had quite a long root

One of the seedling is growing quite rapidly (and has started to grow its first leaves), the other one seems to be kind of root-less and isn't growing much although the first two leaves are out. I have now turned it around to see if it responds and rotates like the other one does when I move it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Here are a couple of blurry pictures, I'll try to take some better ones tomorrow :)

Err you should not have them all planted together, move them out sooner then later it will mess them up.

Also, is that cup transparent? If so the roots will not like it when they get to the edge.

And lastly it looks like you might have some stretching so move it up to the light...

Other then that..... good luck :)

No they're in seperate cups and I noticed the stretching.. I'll get them closer and out of the cup and in a proper pot when the root system starts showing

Ok they're both growing now, the 2nd one which wasn't growing is looking much better and looks happy in a plant kind of way :) No new pictures though since there isn't much of a difference

One of the seedlings seems to be in a stunted growth but it responds a bit to the light if I rotate it. I touched it and noticed that it doesnt have any roots, it's like a clone in the soil. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm afraid I'll fuck it up even more now :? I think I'll just let it sit for a while, maybe it'll flourish in time

Couldn't keep myself from checking it last night.. good news, it seems to be growing roots now although they're still small :)

K one of them is growing strongly and beatiful, the other one is still small and the codyledons (spelling?) are a bit wilted, so I watered it a bit. Here are two pictures, one of each :) Sorry for the crappy quality, it's my phone cam.

glad to see that bost sprouted and are doing well. I also want to take back a cmment that I said to you. The ther day I was browsing around and I read that translucent cups could be good. They provide the abilitiy to check the roots without taking the plant out. Which was good for newer growers so that they could check on the roots and make sure everything was going good. The post also said that if one was worried about the light affecting the roots to just put a piece of paper around the cup... So yeah :)

Keep it up and glad to see its tking off :)

One of them is growing like crazy.. the other one has just stopped growing for the last few days.. It doesn't have any markings or abnormalities on the leaves so I don't think it's a deficiency. Is it normal or does it mean something? They were germinated together and sowed together. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your overwatering, i can tell by how wet the soil is....you need to wait till the soil is crusty on top and about 2 inches down before watering...And only water around the plant and not a whole lot...Also they are major stretched, get the lights closer...what lights are you using...???
And you can add more soil to the cups up to just below the codelyns....the rest of the stem will take root if you do that too....Other than that they look ok...my babies are 9 days old...the one got a lil burned in the back but she will be ok...

I watered them yesterday, but wasn't totally dry since they're in compost and it retains water, going to transplant into potting soil though when they outgrow the cups. I'm using CFLs and the light is quite close, almost touching them. When I took the picture I pulled them from under the light. Thanks for the help though I'll keep it in mind :)

Seedlings should be a little bit away from the light.. Not touching. I had a similar experience and stunted mine because they were so close to the light (2-3cm)

I got my seedlings about 3 inches away now which was a little far I think, I moved them about an inch closer so hopefully that works better now.

Oh better move them then cause I thought the closer they get is the better.. 10x for the advice :) growing canna is easy with this forum to ask questions and help each other :D
