I'm not overwatering. I think I actually went one day too long this last time before watering. I only have 23 plants right now, 22 if the unhealthy one dies. I'm hoping for 12 females. I think two 400s is good for around 12 plants. I don't think I will prune at all. I've read pros and cons for both fim and lollipop. I think I'm leaning towards a natural grow this time and using it as a base for comparison on my next grows. I'll probably take off the most spindly, useless lower branches, but I'm not going to lollipop. Anyways, I couldn't find any "natural" grows on RIU, so I think it will be interesting for people who would like to know how they yield. Maybe no one does "natural" grows because they yield less, but I guess I'll find out the hard way, lol!

October 29th (Day 26):
The plants are getting bigger. The shortest one (pictures 1 & 2) is 7" and the tallest one (pictures 3 & 4) is 13". I'm mad that there is so much of a difference in heights; I wish they were all the same. The plant that looked like it was dying did die. The stem broke off from the roots below the soil. I now have 22 healthy plants left. I'm thinking about turning the lights to 12/12 in three days. I want to wait until the shorter plants are about 12" but I'm afraid that the taller ones will end up being over my maximum desired height of 45" when they're done. Any suggestions/comments

Great thread

I'm currently growing the same seeds as you. I already have one harvest complete of the same genetics, Northern Lights from marijuana-seeds.nl. It is a great plant.

The trichomes come in thick and early, the smell is heavenly, and the smoke is sweet. I used CFLs over 3 plants and harvest about 3.5 ounces after a month veg.

This time around, I have 4 girls who will probably give me a minimum of 6 ounces all together. They are much healthier than my first round of plants, and I plan on letting them grow out to about 10 weeks instead.

Good luck!

Believe it or not, I have pulled only seven males. Of the 15 plants left, only one is unconfirmed; and I assume it will be a female. The other 14 are confirmed females. No pics for now, but the plants haven't changed very much, just much taller. The tallest one is 28" and the shortest is 15". I hope to have pics up within a week.

The plants are developing many budding sites. But some of them don't seem to be slowing their vertical growth at all. The tallest plants are over three feet tall now. I'm so pissed off about that. I keep the lights as close to the plants as possible (without burning them) in order to prevent this. If they get over 55", they will be practically even with the reflector when raised to its maximum height. Do you think I have any chance of my tallest one (38") only growing another 17" over the next seven or so weeks? I guess the worse case scenario would be that I have to put the plants that are too tall in between the lights and have the tops of them above the level of the reflectors, something that I absolutely do not want to do; any suggestions? Also, I have a noob question. Below are pictures of the top of one plant (taken through a magnifying glass). To me, it appears that there are little ball shaped things in the top where the white hairs are growing. I wanted to know if this is a normal female or if it is a hermaphrodite. Many of my plants look similar to this one. I hope that this is normal and that I'm just asking a completely stupid noob question. I pray that my plants aren't turning he-she on me. Please educate me on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated.

let me give you some advice on the tall/short plant deal. I guess now you see why people do LST/topping and other plant control methods? Yes, and thats one the the reasons why natural grows are bad for indoors.

You generally want to put the taller plants to the side of the light, and the shorter ones in the middle. This will help with burns, + it will give better light distribution.

Your best bet now is to try and LST it a little bit, the tall ones, if you wanna, another option would be to just top the plant, that's so hard though when they are already flowering and it also might stress them (hermies!).

Get creative, put the tall plants to the side and the short in the middle, LST the tall ones inwards towards the light if you can.

I am pretty sure they are not turning into she males, those are just buds i'm pretty sure, forgot the official name for them.

November 20th (Day 48, day 19 of flowering):
I removed a hermaphrodite a few days ago, now I am down to 14 female plants. They all have many nicely devoloping buds. I also noticed the first glints of trichomes forming on some of the leaves . The upward growth has finally slowed down, somewhat. I am very happy about this because my tallest plant is now 45". Some of them look like they are sativa dominant phenotypes. The plants are getting a little wobbly so I think I am going to support them with bamboo stakes on Sunday. I plan on taping the stakes to the outside of the pots so that I don't damage any roots. Is this a good idea, or am I just being overcautious? Pictured below is one of the sativa dominant phenotypes. It's nothing special, it was just the most convenient one to take pictures of at the time. The first pic is from above, second is a shot of its midsection, and the third is the top of the plant from the side.

I pulled another hermaphrodite, now I have 13 plants. The buds are growing very well. A few of the plants' hairs have just begun to turn color. The shortest plant has the best looking trichome production. The rest are very good though. The tallest plant has the biggest main bud, but not much bigger than the others. Here's a picture of it:

December 8th (Day 66, day 37 of flowering):
One of the plants was developing bananas so I removed them and put it in a different room. I don't know if the bananas were caused by stress or if it has something to do with genetics. The room does have a big difference in night and day temperatures and I heard that can cause a plant to turn hermaphrodite. Either way, I'm not going to buy from www.marijuana-seeds.nl again. The plant has almost 100% cloudy trichomes, so I flushed it today and am just going to give it plain water until I harvest it. Also, about 70% of its hairs have turned orange, whereas most of the other plants have almost all white hairs; and it is somewhat smaller too. Maybe this has some correlation with the fact that it went hermie, I don't know.

Since not a lot of people are responding to my posts, I have decided that I will only post updates upon request from now on. When I harvest, I will give some of the details that have been left out of the journal and also answer questions about the grow. I plan on harvesting three plants in about a week. The other 10 will probably come down about a week later. If you have any questions about the grow thus far, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them.

why didn't you use a 6000 watt system, and what seed company are you going to use next time?
6000 watt system? Are you serious, or did you mean 600? I went with two 400 watt lights (instead of two 600) because of heat concerns and electricity limitations. Right now, the fuse (yes, fuse, not breaker) that the lights are on is basically maxed out because of fans and other stuff; some of which is not used for the grow. The house's wiring is old and set up very oddly. The whole house only has six fuses. Here is a list of what I plan on growing next:

-White Russian -- Serious Seeds [purchased 11, germinating 6]
-Violator Kush -- Barney's Farm [purchased 10, germinating 5]
-Cataract Kush -- DNA Genetics [purchased 6, germinating 6]
-Blueberry Jam -- Dr. Atomic [purchased 10, germinating 5]
-LA Woman feminized -- DNA Genetics (freebie from The Attitude)
-White Widow feminized -- Dinafem (freebie from The Attitude)
-Kandy Kush X Skunk -- DNA Genetics (freebie from The Attitude)
-Sleestack X Skunk -- DNA Genetics (freebie from The Attitude)
-OG 18 X Skunk -- DNA Genetics (freebie from The Attitude)

All seeds (except for the Blueberry Jam) are from The Attitude Seedbank. The freebies are single seeds, all of which I plan on germinating. I am really looking forward to growing the skunk crosses. It sucks, though, that they are not feminized--which means that it is highly unlikely that I will be able to try all three. I also can't wait to see how the Blueberry Jam turns out. Actually, I am excited about all of the strains that I will soon be receiving!

I haven't been posting many pics because my camera sucks and doesn't do the buds justice. I will try to borrow a better camera this weekend. I'm telling you, my shortest one has super nice trichome coverage. It looks like pictures that I've seen of white widow. Some of my plants have/are turning purple; I think because the night temp gets down in the mid-to-low 60's. The day temp, though, is much warmer and I think this is the reason that some of the plants are producing bananas. I'm just going to keep picking them off until harvest. Hopefully the late ones will be coming down no later than January 3rd.
