First Grow Woes

I just completed my first grow of 4 plants, during which time I got the honor of learning about both spider mites and powdery mildew.

Two of the plants were salvageable. The other two were too far gone. So my questions:

What is the best way to dispose of an entire plant?

What is the best way to disinfect an entire room for both bugs and fungi?

What the hell is this ugly bug? **EDIT** Looks to be Mealybugs.

Dig a hole and bury the plants. (Cut into pieces)

Sm90, h2o2 or hydrogen peroxide will kill white powdery mildew spores.

A 10:1 Water bleach mixture will take care of the spider mites.

Use a pump sprayer and first spray with bleach solution. (This may not kill the wpm.) Wipe down the entire area and let it dry thoroughly and provide proper ventilation.

Clean sprayer out with water including the spray wand. (Always do this regardless of what you use in it.)

Then spray with a hydrogen peroxide solution of your choice and repeat the same process as listed above.

A total release fogger bug bomb with ingredient of pyrethrin will also take care of any spots you missed (spider mites hide in the smallest cracks) and help ensure that you do not reinfest your crop. Seal your area so the bomb can take the full effect. (Follow directions on the packaging.)

In the future, keep humidity under control and wpm will not be in issue.

Inspect any plants you introduce to your room and make sure they don't have any unwanted passengers.

Treat your grow area like it is quarantined. Do anything you can to lessen the possibility of introducing anything foreign into your grow space.

Good luck!

Thanks moparhomo!

Do you have a recommendation for a mixing ratio of the h2o2 to water?

Also, I could not find a fogger with pyrethrin in it locally. I might be able to get one from Amazon. I picked one up from Home Depot that has 12.6% Permethrin. It says it kills spider and those little bastards are technically spiders. Do you think this will work, or should I get one ordered from an online source?

It depends on the strength. I found this online. These ratios are for spraying plants, but they should be useful here as well.

Add 40ml of 17 1/2 % H2O2 to 1 litre of water
OR add 80ml of 9% H2O2 to 1 litre of water
OR add 20ml of 35% H2O2 to 1 litre of water.

That bug bomb will work just fine.
