First grow - who knows what happens

For whatever reason I got the itch to grow some weeds. I don’t smoke much at all these days but was a regular back in high school and college. I think part of the allure is how freaking amazing these plants are and unlike almost anything else. I do quite a bit of veggie gardening (onions, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, squash, potatoes, etc.) so I’m not new to growing shit but still…I need to keep my expectations in check.

Purchased a 2x4 tent, inline fan and tsl2000 from mars hydro. Had decent reviews and didn’t break the bank. Also picked up a small humidifier and acinfinity oscillating fan. Tent is going in my office which I built during the beginning of the COVIDs (was a car port). Has a mini split for hvac.

Ended up purchasing seeds from crop kings…before I knew about all the other better breeders but this is my first go so, yeah. Blueberry, gelato and critical mass cbd…all autoflowers. My plan is/was to do 3 inside and move 3 outside.

Seeds germed March 19th. Started 3 of each and all but 1 (critical mass) sprouted. The 2 extras went into solo cups as backups!

Oh yeah, my growing medium! Soil…layered mix. Bottom third is FFOF/perlite/EWC/Dr earth dry ferts and some myco. Top 2/3 is FFHF/perlite. All in fabric pots.

Here we go!

One week in…things are seeming to be doing what they should!

…..this is obviously time warped as I decided to wait a few weeks before starting a thread. Nothing like failing miserably in front of the internet with millions of people you don’t know!

Doing nothing but letting tap water dechlorinate for a day then ph to around 6.5.

Oh and also...that is not my handwriting! Somehow I convinced my wife to write labels for weed plants, the first two names were easy to disguise but cbd threw her on to my plans! That and the fact I had this tent in my office, lol.

Almost 2 weeks old! Nothing exciting but also no cause for concern!

Up until now I’d been focusing on temp and humidity based on all the handy vpd charts. I was starting to do more and more reading and then learned about DLI…so I purchased the Photone app and made a defuser with white printer paper stock. This is the first time I can actually tune my light based on height and dimmer opposed to relying on the marketing BS of the supplier (No offense marshydro)!

week #3

Went to stay at our mountain cabin over Easter and had the in-laws tend to my ‘plants’. My mother in law claims she got ‘high’ just from opening the tent …drama queen! She (and her daughter) are keepers tho. Father in-laws asked ‘when will the weed be ready to smoke’ lol.

Week #3…getting exciting!

One thing I have learned is that I can underwater in fear of overwatering. So far this may be my biggest issue but isn’t major. Topped a couple and did some minor LST…was scared for no reason and should’ve done more!

Week #4…still nothing but ph adjusted water.

Now things are getting interesting! Week #5. I did start feeding the solo cups with FF big bloom liquid nutes.

Start of week #6. Some issues presenting…perhaps nute burn or nitrogen deficiency or either a calcium / magnesium issue. IDK.

More of week #6…dang this goes fast and tent is getting crowded!

Week #7. Added dry ferts to fabric pots (recipe 420 ultra bloom) and was probably a week or so late doing so.

The tent was getting crowded and a pita to water, having to move plants out, etc…so I bought another tent. Already had a mars hydro ts1000 that I used on a wire rack for veggie starts and put it in a 2.3 x 2.3 tent. Things are spaced out much better.

These are from a few days ago and the start of week #8. Going to top dress the fabric pots with FFOF and myco today before watering and continue feeding the solo cups with liquid nutes.

Any feedback and constructive coaching is welcome. This is a learning experience for me and what I gather from my mistakes and successes will help my next grow. Have a few mephisto auto strains ready!

Tail end of week #8…top dressed with FFOF earlier this week and watered this evening with some kelp tea.

Considering you used crop king, you're incredibly lucky with results too. Any sugar leaf that has necrosis, cut it off, you don't want it getting near your colas.

I grew lots of outdoor veggies too. Timed, UG irrigation, I put in all of that stuff.
Man for first time, you documented, photo'ed great. Wish i could try doing that.

Thanks dude! I jumped on seeds before really learning about genetics and their role in production. Will be exciting to see how mephisto seeds perform against similar growing as these.

Yeah I have spent some time with outdoor veggies. Started with hand watering…that sucked! Moved to soaker hoses but felt like I was wasting water so moved to drip irrigation last year. So much better! This year I am working on in-line fertilizer with water soluble stuff vs dry amending.

Yup, everyone does it, I almost bought some too. I actually found this forum researching the crop king seeds I was about to buy lol! I've heard a few people say the weed was good after they grew it, hopefully thats your experience too!

Having some issues that got worse over the past week or so. Thinking it may be lockout due to ph being low.
