hey guys im starting my first grow here in a few weeks im gonna start the veg cycle in a 3.5'x3'x2' cabinet with mylar around the inside with 3 150w cfls in fox farms ocean forest soil with 1 4" exhaust and 2 3" pc fans to keep the stems strong and air circulating once through the veg cycle will be moving into a larger cabinet with a 400w hps lighting ballast along with a few 150w cflls looking to do anywhere from 4-6 plants what do you guys think about the grow and any other things that should be added? also odor control, will it be a problem during the veg cycle? or just the flowering cycle thanks!

Odour will increase throughout the VEG cycle and, depending on strain and environmental factors, become more noticeable as FLOWER time approaches.
It's always better to be sure - and get into good habits - by using a carb filter from early in the grow.

The strong odor depends on the strain. I've grown some strains that hardly had an odor. I've also grown some strains like Mazar, that you could smell from my driveway. A carbon filters purpose is to scrub the intake air before it gets exhausted to the outside. It helps with your odor problems indoors but not completely. The only thing I have found that works is an Ionizer or a negative Ion generator. You can buy one for very little money nowadays. Years ago, they were $100's of dollars.

That setup sound prime! And 4 plants under those cfls for veg and then the 400w hps for flower, you'll do fine. What kind of nutes are you gonna use?

if you plan on starting from seed FFOF will be to strong in nutrients for the seedlings. i like to shake FFOF through a bucket with 1/4 inch holes drilled in the bottom to get the finer soil and mix it in with some seedling soil, perlite, and some sifted compost(i like composted wood chips.) it just makes the soil lighter and less nutrient dense so the seedlings can thrive. then i transplant them into FF(OF or HF) with a little added nutrients. ive been using dr earth tomato veggie and herb fert. i mix in a couple months before i plan on using set aside. when ready i put about 1/4 of super nutrient soil in the bottom and then dilute the FF with DR earth with more FF then fill the rest of the pot to transplant into. using this method i have not had to feed at all so far. i dont plan on feeding until late flowering. growing organically is pretty easy. you just need to give it the right nutrients and good soil and most all plants will survive and thrive.
