First Grow Vision Northern Lights Autoflower Grow Journal!

Hi everyone!

So this is going to be my first grow; i'm really excited and would like to share my first growing experience with the rest of the cannabis community. I'm going to be growing the well-known strain Northern Lights. These are going to be autoflowering feminized seeds. I purchased my seeds from herbiesheadshop 2 days ago; they arrived this morning (Would definitely recommend them!). I'm going to be updating every few weeks or so at the different stages of my plants life... :blsmoke:

  • Seedling

Germination

So I've just placed my seeds into a damp piece of kitchen roll, and then placed the kitchen roll into a sandwich bag for germination! They are currently in a room with humidity 53% and temperature of 16°C.
When these seeds root's break through tomorrow or a few days after, I will be putting them into 5 liter pots. This is my first grow so I've went with a cheap lighting system; I'll be using;
"45Watt LED Grow Light Hydroponic Plant Veg Flower Indoor Full Spectrum Panel Lamp"

The light schedule that I have decided to go with is 18/6; the reason I went with this schedule is because I've read about how Autoflower's don't depend on light as much as Photoperiod plants do. This should give my plants some time to rest and replenish their energy.

Nutrients
I'm going to be using "Tomato Plant Food" and "Baby Bio For Herbs" for my plants extra nutrients. I'll be using the "Baby Bio For Herbs" for the growth stage; and then the "Tomato Plant Food" for the Flowering stage to help my bud development.

OK so here's a quick update about my grow :leaf:

I decided to take a picture of my starting grow box; I say "starting" because it's only temporary for around a week or so until I can get my final grow box made. Also I need to get a cover for the front of my box to contain much needed heat for my plant.

I also took a picture of my seed that is currently germinating; the temperature was fine, but the humidity was a bit low. Obviously the humidity within the sandwich bag will be higher, but i'm still a bit concerned about my seed. My seed's been in there for around 20 hours, so I expect a root to break through either later on today or early tomorrow morning!

My light was supposed to arrive yesterday but it still hasn't been delivered. I've contacted the owner of the light to get the situation resolved; hopefully it'll arrive in a few days so I can get this grow started!

As I said before I'll keep updating my grow every few weeks or so.

*Update*

OK, so I've just placed my germinated seed into it's home for the next 9-12 weeks. This is going to be an organic grow so of course I'm using organic soil. The pot size is 5 liters which I think is a good sized pot for my first grow.

I'm going to be using collected rain water throughout my grow; I live in a hard water area so this was my best option.

Decided not to take any pictures yet because the plant hasn't developed and broke through the surface of the soil yet. Hopefully if things go to plan it should break through within 2-3 days.

When the seedling appears I'll add a few pictures of my progress.

hi evil , im in the process of germinating my first try at autos, so I am a couple of days behind you keep up the good work. might i suggest using a bigger pot than the 5ltr you say ur going to transplant into because auto don't like to be handled and transplanted as a rule they prefer to stay in the same pot from seed to harvest also try and keep to SQUARE POTS the roots prefer SQUARE POTS. I will be planting straight in to soil either 3 or 5 gallon pots ( i know there gonna look lost but so be it lmao ) Iam a newbie to growing I have got 1 experimental under my belt which was cuttings of cheese pheno , started off good and lost the 50% due to nute burn over kill on food newbie mistake,
Dont make the mistake of feeding your autos with any nnutes for the first 10fdayss or so because the soil will have enough nutes in there to feeed them, and when you do start to use nutes only use 1/4 of the dosage and build it up. iN REALITY what I have read about Autos is that because of the shortness of the life cycle you will only need to feed it Veg nutes maybe 1 or 2 times before you start to use the bloom nutes , Dont QUOTE me on that !!! lol it is just my thought and is what im planning myself . cant wait to see your pics of your lil ladies

Thanks tipper01 for replying, and good luck with your grow too!

I'm definitely going to be using a bigger pot for my next grow; if that even happens. This is just a test run that I've decided to do, so I'm going to start with a small 5 liter pot to see how things go.

Where I am during the day it's around 8°C outside and about 12°C inside (without the central heating on), so I'm curious if my plant would be able to grow. At night it would be around -2°C; this is when I'll add a small heating system.

I'm going to start adding nutrients at around 2 weeks; 1/4 dosage as you said, then I'll slowly work my way up.

Q - What strain will you be growing?

*Big Update*

OK!

So I just got my new box made yesterday; I'm really happy with the space it gives me.

Also, here's a few pictures of my seedling; she's looking great!

If this seedling survives another week or so I will be thinking about adding another 1 or 2 plants to my grow. I have these extra Northern Lights seeds now; I got these seeds in a pack of 3 with the seedling that's currently growing.

When the temperatures outdoors begin to rise to about 18°C I will also be thinking about growing outdoors. The seeds that I'll be using would be 2 afghani regulars, and 1 Dinafem OG Kush feminized. My outdoor grow would begin in a few months from now but I thought I'd share.

Q - Is my seedling a bit small, or is that a normal height for 3 days after surfacing the soil?

Q - If the temperature falls from 24°C to around 16°C would this harm the plant?

Aww I love the baby seedlings, they're always so cute! Beyond aww, there's not really much you can say about them at this stage, but in my totally un-expert opinion it's all looking good so far, keep it up! :bigjoint:

*Update*

OK everyone, I've decided to begin germinating another seed and add it to my grow. It's going to be another Northern Lights Autoflower Feminized Seed. I said previously that I'd wait 1 week to see how my current seedling develops, but I just couldn't wait; my seedling's getting lonely and needs a sister. Hopefully this new seed will show it's roots in around 2 days or so. I'll make an update for this seed when it's root breaks through.
