First grow! /VEG

whats up RIU! This is my first grow, im just in veg right now. Been learning some super cropping LST Fim topping. Seems to be going well so far. I have come across problems but I worked through them. I expect to keep learning alot more along the way to improve my growing. Any tips comments suggestions would mean alot!

They are about 2ft id say. And thanx stickybuds iv been trying to even out the canopy the best I can. I want to flower them asap but I only have a MH bulb that im vegging with. Could I start to flower then switch to HPS how bad will it affect my yield?

You can flower under mh and you will get better results if you change from mh to hps 3 weeks after switching over to 12/12

2FT fine mate, often flower my plants when there 1ft high

As long as the room 70% full its time to flower

No the darkness thing is an unproven myth. Just switch to 12-12 and start flowering.

What about light leaks? Iv heard if light gets to your plants when the light is off is really bad.

only if direct light is on the plants when the lights off for long lengths of time, small amouts of reflective light will do the plants no harm

a tiny bit of light leak is not a big issue but we always strive for as little as you can

It's virtually impossible to have zero light leak unless you are in a sealed room with no ventilation, the key is to limit as much stray light as you can

Light leaks are not good but with a lot of newbies, they can go overboard, one of my old mates got upset as there was a few small holes in the stitching on the zip for his tent so a little light got in there
he was tapping it every day to stop the light, tried telling him its ok but he read on the sites his plant will turn Hermie so he worried

another one was, wardrobe grow, some light was getting under the door, not a lot but a small amounts of reflective light, he was also checking his plants everyday because he read his plants would turn Hermie

I think to stop this, everyone should think ofLight leak as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde posted as its great advice

Great info everyone! Thank you! I was worried about light leaks because im doing a closet grow. Imade a make shift tent out of double sided poly that sits inside the closet.. and I see some light, not a lot, coming from the sides of my closet where it meets the wall. And the light that comes through seems to be where I put a staple or ran a cable through. I will strive for as little light as possible. Its good to know a little wont hurt. Do you think draping a dark sheet over my closet is a little excessive? I was thinking about doing it, but im worried about air circulation.

We have used a drape over the door, but if it compromises your air circulation, then maybe not

we know a grower who has serious light leaks issues but yet he has never had hermies or issues

my ac unit leaks in some light even after taping and painting the inside black but it hasnt caused any issues for over a year.

Im happy to hear from people who actually experienced this personally. It lets me breath easy knowing that people have had light leaks with no serious problems to there girls. Thanx again for the knowledge dropped RIU!! And thanx to everyone who posted on this thread! I see a couple of you have helped me out before in previous threads I cant thank you enough!

I was asking about the height because it was something I wanted to know, I didn't say height had anything to do with switching to 12/12
