@hudsman: I'd have to see the pics man, are they rooted plants, seedlings, unrooted clones? I've had clones lay down on me only to perk up the next day with a nice misting of the dome and of themselves (my experience, yours may vary) but I dunno what we're workin' with here, plus I'm still new at this so if anyone with real experience wants to help ol' hudsy be my guest.

@NiceOl: Thanks for stopping in man!

I posted the pic on page 10...just imagine those seedlings 1 day later laying down and you get the visual. I took them out and added soil up to their neck to give them support and moved them closer to the lights. What do you think?

Oh yeah, that ain't natural. How are temps? My #1 guess, esp since this is your first grow, is overwatering. I always wanted to do SOMETHING to my plant and sometimes I'd just give 'em water. Leave 'em alone for 2 days and I bet they'll be perky as nipples in the rain!

Anyone else wanna chime in?

I havnt watered my seedlings since I put them in the Happy Frog...naturally the soil was wet when I planted them. That was on Saturday 11/20. I have misted water on them each day but that has been it. I was planning on watering for the first time tomorrow which would be their 4th day without a watering. The soil felt moist today but drying at the top. Like I said I added some soil around the stems like a turtle neck....haha....I have heard of others doing this as well. Temps could be part of it. With 9 bulbs @ 23w at 6500k it gets a bit warm. I am exhausting with 3 fans at 38cfm a piece. I have also placed a fan that is bringing in ambient 70 degree air into the box to help cool the over all temps. I have two thermometers in the box both read between 78-85 at the warmest temps....mind you it was 85 without the added fan bringing in more outside air. I think I am getting closer to 80 now. Another concern I have is humidity. It is low at 20%. I live in a desert climate with little rainfall so it stays pretty dry. I am open to all suggestions. The leaves on 6 out of 7 plants are very green with steady growth since the planting.

It seems this is the most fragile stage that I have found....so any help to get me through the first two weeks would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, you shouldn't mist seedlings. I really never mist my plants because they're so damn close to the lights that even residual water on foliage ends up in the poor leaf being burnt to shit (see Roz). So these days I try to run them in front of a fan after waterings since I usually water them during the day (most convenient).

But I digress, don't mist the poor seedlings! Haha. Really, just leave 'em alone for a few days, even 3 days, and when you come back to them you'll be happy.

Let me know how it goes hudsy and thanks for stopping in T@ll T33!

I was busy today so I didn't get a chance to take a shot of the girls but lets just say the one thing I did have enough time to do was move those growing bud sites out of the way of the lights! :)

Well my crop is a bust...I think all plants are dead or on their way. I cant help but think that the temp is just to high for them. Mix high temps with low humidity and I think that is my culprit. It looks like I will be back to the drawingboard ordering more seeds.... fing sucks. Maybe I need more exhaust on those 9 bulbs.... I would have hoped 3 fans was enough but maybe its not. I know that when I close it up all the way that the temp is still getting over 80.... I think thats what caused my seedlings to fall over and eventually die.... Thoughts???

lower your plants farther away from the light to reduce their air temperature and drape a wet rag just over the intake to increase humidity. the rule of thumb is intake needs to be 2.5 times the size of the exhaust.

Thanks Gum... I will try that next time. Do you agree that the low humidity plus higher temps was the problem? I think the box was getting 85-88 degrees...What humidity can I expect with that towel method? Also the grow box I built has 9 23w 6500's How far can the seedlings be from the bulbs abd still be effective without streching? Should I reduce the amount of light until they get older and bigger??

no, those temps can be bearable. i think the spraying was too much, and maybe the low humidity. you possibly drowned them. as for the distance, you will have to place your thermometer in various places and see how far your best temp is away. then determine if that is to far away.

Shit hudsy, it hurts me to hear about your babies. If you haven't thrown them out yet, give them some time man. I know they might look really bad but you honestly never know, and giving them time to try and survive wont hurt any, right?

Here are some pics from today, keeping in mind that both plants have been living their lives under 2 26w CFLs and 1 13w CFL, all 6500K. Temps have been around 68-78 so they're pretty much loving life.

The BBH seems to finally be getting settled into the box so expect to see some big things happening soon enough I suppose!

I also tied the Ice Cream down since she's gettin' bigger and bigger! Better not be a boy, haha. Really hope things get wrapped up in the flower box soon because I want to get these girls into some 2G pots and let the GROW. I think I'll be doing at least one more grow in this place so we might as well make it count right?

1+ month veg mixed with 2G pots, another hundred watts of CFL action and lower temps are the name of the game this time around.

That said, expect new pics from the flower room tomorrow when they/I wake up.

And here are some pics of Jill Flash from this morning. I had a mini freakout when I saw all of her leaves were shriveled and wilted but then I lifted up her pot and remembered that I forgot to water her yesterday, woops!

So after a nice healthy dose of high-quality h2o she's almost 100% perked right back up after about 2 hours haha. Poor girl must've been thirsty as fuck, I reckon.

Roz is getting closer to harvest as well, woo :)

I appreciate the feedback and the help from all! How often can I expect to water from the original germ transplant? How often the first week/ 2nd week? I was thinking about 3-4 days a part...I didnt even water the plants until after they had already fallen....just misted them... I am going to concentrate on the temp and humidity for my next attempt.... seeds are on the way..:( money down the drain....I am however trying to save some of the plants still.....so H&P Im not giving up!! :) worst case is that Im starting a new crop in about a week.

i found a good trick is to pour half your soil in a tub, wet it and mix it up. then pour the other half of the soil in the tub, and DO NOT WET IT. continue to mix it in well so all parts are fairly evenly moistened. now plant your seed or germed root into the soil and cover with a humidity dome for at least the first 4 days then feel the weight of the cup. if you start it off in something somwhat small like the party cup it will be easier to learn when they need watering by the weight.

Woo I'm rootin' for ya hudsman!

Apparently Roz ain't done growing yet! This is awesome except for the fact that I have to get this damn Ice Cream plant into that flower box sooner than later. Don't want to veg it much longer than a month. So we'll see how much this baby wants to fatten up.

The Jack Flash is also growing rapidly. I'll be spending tomorrow morning inside the box, arranging shit. Which actually reminds me that I need to be getting to bed soon, big day tomorrow. I love working on the box, I just can't wait til it's 100% dialed in.

Already drawing up plans for version 2.0 haha.

So onto the pics!

First shot is of Roz and the size increase is as plain as day and came overnight after I changed her light positioning.

Last shots are of JF. The first is an example of some of the buds that are in the front and just soaking up all that light as opposed to the second picture which is of one of the buds in the back. You can see how it's curving, trying it's hardest to get to that light! Better dispersion is one of the big goals of the next iteration of this flower box for sure, I just suck at drawing schematics so I'm just gonna buy some PVC, some wire, some bulbs and let my buddy get to work. I'm pretty lucky to have a friend that just likes to build.

Sorry, I'm rambling. The last shot looks like a damn game of cat's cradle but it serves a purpose I promise! I tied all 3 of those back branches up closer towards the lighting! I just made a knot attaching each one to the now study-as-fuck main stem with it's sexy red stripe!

Probably wont be much of an update tomorrow. I turned 2/3rds of the lights off because I had no time to work on the box before work this morning and the Jack flash was uncomfortably close to the lighting. That's #1 on the fix list for tomorrow! Gnite pals!
