Wow what a difference sunlight makes. They shine like diamonds outside.
@cannabisdre I think you hit the nail on the head with the lockout. Today even the yellow leaves have a little narcosis.
Rainwater didn't improve on the smell but I'm using it anyway. 5 gallons flush - 1 gallon final w/half feed.
I think I will even feed all the outside plants today also.
The reveged plants are filling in the main branches thickly. With some creative training and diligent trimming and we are looking forward to 4 foot long cola's this summer. :weed: :hump:

DSC01077.JPG Brought the girls outside for a flush and feed. Spent three hours soaking up Sunshine.
Notice the color of the rainwater. Smells worse than it looks. Used almost all of it in the garden this evening. I hope it rains before I need to water the girls again. They seem to like it.....even smelly, but fresh makes me feel beter about using it.

is that last pic the rainwater? smh
Yep that's straight out of the barrel. The brown mostly comes from the tannen in the soft maple seed pods (whorley copters) that are still collecting in the gutters. Its almost time I can clear the gutters and rinse the barrel. The smell is fermenting pollen and such from the same reason. It should change as the season goes. and the microbial base establishes in the new barrel. I m finding more and more that it is all about the microbes. In the barrel, in the compost, in the soil. Critters make it haptian captain.

Yeah, I used to keep south american chiclids so I know what you mean about microbes and tannens. my fish liked natural wood but it always made the water yellow for a while/

I still can't believe how high i was last night... I'll regret chopping that but .... but I dont at the moment =) My buds are better than any 'dro' i can find around here.... I can't wait for them to mature a little more so i can get that body buzz i like.... I prefer to smoke myself retarded after a long frustrating day =)

If you bubble the water first along with a bit of native soil or compost and molasses, you can kill off any stinky anaerobic microbes and promote good aerobic soil microbes. 24 to 36 hours with a fish bubbler and an airstone.

Thanks, This is a brand new barrel and it rained the day after I put it up and it rained enough to keep it full for a couple of weeks. I finally got it emptied today. I also finally got to access the bottom of my compost bin. (long story but the cage is out - home made tumble able barrel and a new worm farm coming in)
I had read about adding a little compost but had to get a tractor to pull my sunken cage from its roost. (4 or 5 years of only being filled and occasionally poked at ) should be good stuff.
I notice you said Native soil. Does that mean I could have used my garden dirt.

I figure I will take a small one from the PK also....just because.. hehe and then wait. I still intend on dual harvest times for comparison so it will be soon. I will start saving it all after the first sample tastings and hope for some edibles in the mot too distant future.
Yes smoking gets me there just fine. Fine smoke gets me there faster. lol. I never feel I have enough stash to get elaborate but wondered what it would be like to just say... "fuck''''' that pound of ganga buds is just in the damn way. somebody turn it into hash"

P.S. High as fuck on the sample:eyesmoke:
Even tasted good .... compaired to reg.

If you heat the sugar in the oven first you will activate the THC and it will get you very medicated :)

Native soil would be from a nearby forest or area with nice old black soil with decaying goodies inside. Your garden may have areas like this too.

It started raining today while I was pulling the cage off the old compost bin. Since the side was exposed I reached in at ground level, up to my elbows, and grabbed a double handful, and placed it in the top filter of the barrel, and slurried it around for a bit. It didn't rain long but I got about 7 gallons in the barrel and two gallons of fresh out of the spout that I watered with. The compost smelled like good compost should (like good dirt). I wish my garden had areas like that.. Give me a couple of years.

Thanks for the advise on both issues. Haha!
The other half of my sample is next to my laptop exhaust and I've been streaming Pandora all day. Its not going to be dry this evening so I think I will try your method... Oven about 125deg? wrapped in foil with some holes for moisture to escape?? 15 to 20 minutes? That's my plan for after dinner if I haven't heard back. And good medicine will be a big help. Stacked two cord of wood then rodeoed the ractor the rest of the day. My back is a little pissed

I use a hair dryer and a little box.... open on one end, half opened on the other... bud in the box.. hair dryer on lowest heat and fan setting for aimed at the open end for about 30 mins.. then i let it rest for 30, then dry again if it needs it.. i cut the bud up and get rid of the stems first

Hair dryer and a box was easy enough. I've used a hair dryer with a paper towel roll and a stocking. It took a long time because I wouldn't cut it up. but it made a nice looking samples.
I am glad we sampled because now I am really anxious to experience what we have accomplished on the first grow. I am not even trying any guesses at yield other than to say I think it will supply us until next harvest if the next grow goes as smooth. And I am ecstatic about that.

My wife says we may just call it "Ohhhh Shit !"
It waits until the second or third hit to reach your head and then has a nice heavy warm flush you can feel flow down through your shoulders and beyond.........

I think it needs more like 190 in the oven for a couple hours. Then you can eat it and it will get you very medicated.
