FIRST GROW: Nirvana Blue Mystic & Nirvanaa Bubblelicious

This is my first grow ever and i am really excited with the progress so far. Both the seeds(Blue Mystic and Bubbleicious) from Attitude were germinated by the paper towel method and both succesfully germinated on the 20th of Feb (Wednesday) and were transferred to the grow medium (Coco Coir) and placed under 3 x 23W 6500K cfl's. I have a total of 7 x 23W cfl's for the grow. Pic attached of my grow box too which i completed a week ago.. :)

Only 1 of the seed has popped above ground and I'm really concerned about the other one not popping out of the grow medium. Attached are the pics of my current ladies. Though, the one that popped looks very yellowish at the moment (First day above soil). Is it normal for the first set of leaves to look light yellowish..?

If people are interested in this grow please let me know so that i can update you guys every day with pics and relevant information on grow. Pics attached!

ps: I forgot to label before i germinated the seeds and have no clue as to which one is which. I assume it will be fairly easy for me to identify the strain once in flower since i am only growing two strains at the moment. Also, English is not my first language, pls forgive me for any grammatical errors. :joint:

Biggy!

@Purp They were sitting at 9 inch's from the cfl's. I have raised it up to 3 inch's now upon your suggestion. I was really concerned about the heat before closing in too much.

Easy way to tell if your lights are too close is put your hand over the top of your plant. If it feels like a strong sun ray that you would get at the beach that overtime would burn your skin, it would burn the leaves too. Goodluck.

You might want to consider some 'beer can' reflectors for those CFLs.
There are a couple of DIY thread out there for this simple project.
I added these to my last CFL germination & very please with the results.
I have a fan blowing on my plants & the CFL ~1.5" away from tops. Worked great!

DAY 3 UPDATE:

So this is DAY 3 after planting the germinated seed into the grow medium and we still do not have a pop on one of the seedling. Hence i decided to slowly scrape of the soil from the top to take a look at the root and see what is going on since our other plant is already 1 inch tall. I don't know if this has to do with the plant food that i gave the medium on the 1st day of planting. It left a sticky shiny substance all over the grow medium and i finally decided to add more coco mix and plant the seedling again. (Pics Attached)
It also looks like the tap root started to turn slightly red/brown ish towards the bottom of the tap root. Could this have been from over watering..?

On the plant that is growing i see the leaves are turning yellow / dry on the sides. Is this a problem.?

ps: DAY 3 pics of both plants. Hopefully, both my babies will make it through the hard times

That was just plain stupid. The hard times your talking about were caused by you digging them up. Put it in the soil and wait.

Let's not say stupid, but maybe 'killing with kindness'?!?
The seedlings do look like they are having a hard time.
Be patient, maybe less water, and easy on the plant food. I have not grow in coco, but your seedlings should not need food right away. The first set of leaves should not turn yellow.

Its my first grow. I will learn from my mistakes and from the advises that i get from this community and i look forward to interacting with everyone in here.

I will go easy on the watering and plant food. In the meanwhile i also hope the first seed pops out soon because i did not see any damage done to the tap root in regards to rotting etc.

DAY 4 UPDATE:

Looking a little dry. Maybe need some watering in a day or two. Other than that the plant on the right looks like it is doing well and the one on the left look like it may not survive / pop out of soil. If that is the case, i may germinate my BLIMBURN ORKA to go along with this grow.

Picture below.

DAY 5 UPDATE:

I have a little surprise for you guys today :)

I had tried to germinate a few seeds (White Widow) in Jan with no luck and had thrown away the seeds in a garden after almost 10 days with no activity. Spring has started where i live and to my surprise i saw a seedling that looks like a marijuana plant growing in my garden yesterday. If anyone can confirm on the same I'd really appreciate it.

I have transplanted the plant from the garden to my indoor setup and its the one on the left in the below pic. The one on the right is either the Bubblelicious or Blue Mystic.

Is the plant on the right growing slow for 5 days under the current cfl light setup of 23W x 3 bulbs @ 20/4. I've seen pictures of plants where they really grow a few inches with 4-5 leaves in 5-7 days.

Really appreciate any comments on the same.

the one on the left doesn't look like weed to me, but it may be deformed or stunted..give it a few days

the one on the right is doing fine, it may be blue mystic because they veg very slowly..but everything looks like its on track

DAY 6 UPDATE:

1. Watered the plants this morning till full drain.

2. Added a 3rd seed (Blimburn Seeds - Okra) for germination directly in soil.

3. Plant growth looks to me like its stunned. Been at the same height and width since Day 3. I read that plants grow upward of an inch per day if conditions are perfect. :(

@Spittn4Cash Thanks for the update bro. I have added Okra to the line up since I'm not sure if the plant on the left is weed also. Worst to Worst case i will toss out the plant on the left for Okra and the one on the right will be growing side by side.

I've got 3 x 23W 6500k day light cfl's sitting about 1 inch on top of these two seedlings. Am I good with lighting so far or should i increase the lights.
