How big is your room, if I may ask.
It feels so weird that just a small candle can ge the CO2 on such a level.
Did you also notice some higher temperature because of the candle?
I know it is small, but I read somewhere that even a small candle can raise the temperature in a car in winter if it got stuck. That's why I ask.

I'm a closet grower. My new journal is started in the 460 Journals in Progress area called- Warezaholic's Skid Row Closet Grow.


If an open flame is what you want, but I'll be satisfied with using a jar with acid = 1 or 2 tbs of PH down is great but vinegar works too, then occasionally drop a dab of baking soda in the acid and Wahala co2.

There's enough stuff we need to weigh and measure so why sweat over co2 ppm's unless it's a really huge area; I just see it as having an intimate, evening cocktail with my plants. And since co2 is heavier than air I put the jar higher above the plants and close the doors and let the built in light cooling fans circulate the gases.

But my grow is just a small 4'x2' room and I'm sowing no more than 5 auto's in Bubbleponics in 5gal buckets.

Anyone here familiar with small indoor space hydro?

I live alone and actually my entire house (no basement or upstairs) is about the size of the master bedrooms of most nice homes. So in my eyes I'm a small grow for sure. My rat infested garage is almost as big as the house but flooding prevents any use of that building. So my closet will have to do.

I also have a whole house, but there´s a girlfriend too, just like your flooding garage, this gives me limitations...

But at least she doesn't cause a huge mildew environment; LOL

True that mate, only humid in the right places...

ROTF, LOL. This is the Humidifier I'm dancing with these days.

My basement grow room is 7x9x6.5'h so 410cft. I've been waffling about building an addition to it that will be 8.5x6x7' and used for flowering only. I have a 6' Light Rail that with a 1000W SHPS should be enough to light up the whole space. Only 8.5x4' will be actual grow space so I have 2' of room to walk thru. I'll make a curtain from panda film to act as a reflective wall.

Temperature is not an issue for me down there. Could be tho once I have the new space working with a 1000W and another 1000 or a couple of 400s going in the main room. I don't think so tho.

I got similar results for CO2 in the spare bedroom which is 10x10x8'h.

The burner is sitting in a metal pail half full of sand so if the jar should break, hasn't in 5 years, the flames won't amount to much and it's always sitting in the open with nothing above it to catch fire so I'm not concerned. A gallon of methyl hydrate, aka methanol aka wood alcohol, is $10 and lasts for one grow. I don't use it until I flip to flower and it really helps during the stretch when the plants are doing their growth spurt. During that time I reset my temp/rh controller to allow up to 90F and 80% RH so the exhaust fan may not come on for hours. They also get a good feed of nutes with a half dose of Big Bud a week before flipping to 'prime the pump' so to say. Usually have ping-pong ball sized buds by the end of the stretch.

Eventually I'll get a tank of CO2 and it'll all be automatic. And safer.

if it's only for flowering stages a tent is only a buck and a quarter. In my plans for sure.

A dehumidifier can really help you out when humidity is low, good side of grow area with low humidity is during flowering.

Just went from 60% area to a 25% area, I have therefore gone back to foliar feeding, they seem to like it, ever considered that approach mate? You need to cover your carpet first I see...

Thanks for the concern but RH is not a concern till summer, then I turn my room fans to daytime exhaust.

Currently, RH is always between 20 and 30 percent, when the home furnace is running.

Higher humidity is more of an issue in Michigan summers than now.

The name of my grow journal is "Warezaholics Skid Row Closet Grow" so (except for absolute necessities) I'm keeping it stupidly simple; and that mostly applies to the growing areas.

The plant is getting ALL the necessities and is thriving and is just now approaching the flowering stages.

I would imagine that the carpet would help a little with keeping humidity down. So why should the carpet be a problem?

I'm sure I can't overload my bedrooms power source with frivolous appliance's.

As it is, I'm probably going to be forced to shut down my bedroom entertainment center until after nightly "lights out in the grow room"; as to allow the growing area free reign over the electricity.

Sooner or later I'm likely going to need to borrow power from another room when I install more lighting and air pumps for the 5 bucket expansion project.

Im planning to erect a cheap tent in the spare bedroom for the flowering stages "of my next grow" because this plant can probably finish up here in this room.

Just curious: You keep referring to me as "mate" so does it make you an Aussie? Or a Brit? What and how are you growing?

My project is all autoflowering plants and will germinate the 7 beans for my first multiple strain grow in about ten more days or so. And that'll be as ambitious and crowded as myself and room can handle (5 indoors hydro And 2 outdoors in dirt).

Nope not any of those nationalities, just a term like dude, man, pal etc...

Great place for bugs, molds and other nasties to breed and hide. Will not do anything at all to the humidity one way or another. If you can't remove it you should cover it with a sheet of plastic.

Pond liner is a good option, in order to avoid any leaks that effects your floors, sealing etc...

Something to think about but with just 4 buckets I have plans for each bucket to be more mobile with Home Depot bucket caddies with wheels (Homer Sliders).

For the time being, I'm confident that there won't be any leaks or spills while using simple 5 gallon Bubbleponics with under 3 gallons of water in each.

The only critters that are "bugging me" right now are an annual handful of tiny pissants they're being controlled. And they're only looking for sugary crumbs the grandkids leave.

Anybody here have tried Exhale co2 bags?

I activated mine 4 days ago (WHICH WAS A VERY HARD PROCESS) by pushing that lump of wet clay down to the bottom of the vacuum sealed bag...

Now I'm watching it get extremely steamed up inside the bag!

Is that supposed to happen?

Being totally new to growing, I just discovered that the only seed from a British batch that germinated (their so called freebie) turns out to be a damn CBD. It turns out that EVERY SINGLE BEAN FARM ON THE PLANET is shoveling these worthless CBDs down everybody's throat! I think it's a Massive conspiracy to prevent the population from getting high!!!!!! ROFCryingOL

The only thing this plant is giving me back is learning how to grow.

I now have 6 beans soaking in the humidity dome (4 going into the hydro room and 2 outside in soil/coco. All autoflowering so now, it's another 3 months before I'm dispensary free (or until something else goes wrong)...
