First grow! Leaves dying 4 days into flowering! HELP!

Hello!

So, this is my first grow and some of the leaves on my AK-47 are dying. I just started a 12/12 light cycle under a 1000w MH light, they were previously under a T5 light for veg. The temp of the closet is pretty cool, not higher than 78 degrees F. They are growing in roots organic soil and got maxibloom, magic-cal during veg and were sprayed with neam oil every week. I got a ph test kit a couple days ago and found out that the water that i had previously been using had wayyy to high PH so yesterday I used water with the right PH. Is that why these leaves are dying? Let me know plzz!

that's supposed to happen, it's from a lack of nitrogen. haha, you remind me of myself a couple years ago, all concerned over a few leaves. your plants look good, you will be fine homie

This appears too early for the plant to be using up it's nitrogen supply, you want this process to happen towards the very end, if it happens too soon get it some nitrogen. Nitrogen early in flowering is still needed for the weight of flower formation.

Something is up with your setup. Here's a look at my plants under 1000w MH to give you and idea of what I'm talking about:

Why your plant looks the way it does must have more to do with environmental and nutritional issues than anything else. Something is definitely amiss. They look hungry. Generally during flowering your plant needs more of everything, including phosphorus. Your plant is short on macro nutrients, so give your soil a good organic dosing of nutrients and microbes for a few weeks and your plants will do well enough during the 2nd week of flowering to make up for it.

While vegging i was using maxigrow nutes. It has 10% nitrogen. Hopefully i can make it to the hydro store tomorrow to pick up more nutes

Exactly what I was going to say. You could supplement with a low dose of grow nutrients until you get proper flower nutrients.

Than keep it on this for a bit, you can use you're bloom nutes later, this plant needs to be fed. But don't over feed to make up, just give it the required dosage. Have you're plant(s) been getting micro nutrients? To be honest I would build this up before flowering, it wont yield too much as scrawny as it is. You look like you have the room to play with, and they should be stronger looking under 1000 watts. How far away are you keeping the lamp? They don't shine like I would expect under 1000 watts, but it could be the picture.

The only nutes it has been given are MaxiGro (10-5-14), MagicCal (2-0-0) and a Spray-N-Grow Micronutrient (foiler feed) with 0.10% Iron and 0.05% Zinc. The plants have been under a T5 light since we bought them as clones (September 26) and put them under the 1000 Watt 4 days ago. The top of the plants are about 2 and a half feet from the light. I'll post a picture when the light goes on, at around 1.

Definitely. Either that thing is waaaay too far away, or they were vegged with another light. It's way to stretchy, to have been vegged under 1000 watts, unless it was like 8 feet away.lol

That explains it, they just got under the 1000 watts, build them a little before you rush into flower, you wont regret it, they will really puff up. And if height becomes a problem, you can always bend them some. Keep in mind they do still grow upward after 12/12 until they really flower up, sativas espacially, so use your judgment too. Is there some room to raise that lamp up some as they grow up?

Alright, so should I keep them under the 1000w with a longer day cycle or put them back under the T5? I did hurry and try to start flowering since i have to be completely done with harvest around the 2nd week of december (I'm moving back home for winter break). Ya, if we wanted to put the light on the top of the closet its over 8 feet tall. So if the plants get too big we will just move the light up and let um grow.

Yeah they will build nice under the 1000, but if time is an issue than ignore what I said, it's all about what you have to do.

Yeah but he said he just switched from T5 to MH just the other day. Your plants are getting a lot more light now and will need a lot more nutrients. What are the PPM levels of the nutes? What were they getting under the T5?

Well, i dont have PPM meter yet so i dont know. They were given MaxiGro (10-5-14), MagicCal (2-0-0) and a Spray-N-Grow Micronutrient (foiler feed) with 0.10% Iron and 0.05% Zinc and we used a 24/0 light cycle. We definitely rushed into growing and weren't sure weither to get the MH or HPS 1000w and the hydro shop suggested that we just get the MH.

MH should give you tight nugs, but maybe just not as much as an HPS. If you can, invest in a ppm meter and check it. Otherwise, if you are using the same strength nutrients as before, maybe increase it by about 50% or a little less to start, but that's just my opinion!

I have to ask, because T5's normally work excellent for vegging, growing some really bushy plants....How far away did you have them placed? I'm guessing 6", at least? Next time, bring 'em down to 2" or less, and you won't believe the difference in growth. They won't even look like the same kind of plant. :wink:
