First Grow Journey

Hey All,

I had previously posted two separate threads with questions / set up so I figured I would just keep my log in one place.

Stats:
-Soil is fox farms ocean floor mixes with 1/3 perlite
-4x2x5 grow tent
-1000w LED (think actual draw is closer to 600)
-1 25w CFL 6,500k might add more
- 4 feminized cabbage patch seeds
-small plastic pots
-3 3 gal smart pots
-fox farm grow big, tiger bloom, and big bloom
- all water is at PH 6-6.5
-450 CFM max inline fan
-can 1000 carbon filter
- hygrometer/ thermometer
- small clip fan
-air intake is passive through 6 inch ducting

Here are some pictures.

- these are 2 days after popping through the dirt the closest one had helmet head

-4 days after sprouting
-1 week after sprouting through the soil
- I transferred 1 to a 3 gal smart pot this is also 1 week after sprouting

- these next 2 were taken today at around 10 days since sprouting


My question as of now is if you think I should start to top / lst on the biggest of the 4 (one pictured above and below)


Also this might be weird but my roommate and I named all the plants seeing as they are all the same strain. The largest of the 4 is named Debo and he is the one in the 3 gal smart pot right now.

The one with the helmet head is named rudy and is the smallest. Dorris is the second largest one and Cletus is the 2nd smallest one.


I don't have as much time to veg as I would like so rather I am just going to fill the smaller space with 4-6 plants.

ANY advice, tips, comments, questions, jokes are MORE than welcome.

I wouldn't top until you get a few more nodes of growth and wait another 3-5 days before you start LST. All personal preference but I'd give them a bit more time, definitely don't top yet.

Lets get this going again but full force now.
Updates since I last posted should be explained in order below. As for the tent updates I just bought a Galaxyhydro 300W that will go in tomorrow.

Recap of everything to this point.

Space
-2X4X5 tent with reflective side
-Also note this tent is in literally the smaller possible space it can fit so accessing the contents are a little
tricky

Medium
-FF Ocean Floor with about 30% added organic Perlite

Lights
-1000W LED – I know I know this is probably not 1000W as it is a cheapo burple Chinese LED – I bought it
for cheap
-I have 2 75W CFL 5,600K
-I have a 175W MH HPS with hood but it will not fit in the tent so thinking about making it a clone / veg light
for a small box I am thinking about building
-I JUST bought a Galaxyhdro 300W as there was a deal at a local shop and they were charging $70 I could
not pass it up

Pots
-Started 4 CP in small plastic pots then moved to 3 gal smart pots
-All autos started in 3 gal smart pots after germing

Nutrients
-FF Big Bloom
-FF Tiger Bloom
-FF Grow Big
-Thinking about getting some CalMagic

Air movement
-6 Inch inline connected to a CAN 1000 carbon filter – all in the tent
-1 small desk fan pointed at top of canopy
-Passive air intake from a 6 inch vent that I made a light trap for

Ok so I am going to go step by step as what has been done so far in hopes making everything clear.

I welcome ALL comments, questions, concerns, tips, advice, jokes, or general banter. This is my first time ever and am really excited to have such a great community along for the ride.

-Mixed the FFOF and Perlite in a large Tupperware then placed in small plastic pots and was watered
with 6.5 PH water till runoff- I then let sit
-Germinated 4 cabbage patch seeds in a wet paper towel for 2 days
-Placed them root down in the soil that had been sitting for 2 days
-Placed them in tent under LED only
-1 week later replanted 1 into the 3 gal smart pot
-Added the 2 CFLS
-All watering up to now has been 6.5 water only
-Repotted the other 3 into 3 gal pots
-Did not monitor watering of small pots well so they really dried out bad hence why 3 of the 4 look WAY
smaller
-Did some very light LST / Topping on 2 of them and landed up snapping off a branch so stopped
-Waterings from week 2-4 nutrient solution 30ML grow big and 10 ML big bloom per gallon
-I germed 3 autos = 1 WWxBB 1 Dark Cream and 1 Cheese
-Planted the 3 germed autos straight into 3 gal smart pots
-Re organized tent to fit 6 3 gal smart pots into the small 2X4 yesssssss 6
1 would not fit so it’s just in a closet under a 75W CFL to see which 2 of the three grows best then will cull
the weakest one
-Built a SCROG and placed it about 18 inches above pot

That brings us to today as the screen was only placed inside the tent last night.

This is were things took a little turn. As aforementioned we did not monitor water in little pots well so dried out like crazy in small pots.

Any feedback welcome.

In particular I am curious what you think about the screen height and defoliating.

Also has anyone grown autos under 12/12 for 2-3 months then back to 18+ hours?

I am actually thinking about flipping soon so what do you guys think?

You have different strains there. Hmmmm...
I would not put them under a screen and just do some simple training. KISS
You will be able to move the plants around that way as it will be way to cramped in that little space maintain potted plants.
If you do use the screen don't grow through it but, instead use it to keep the tops spread and down promoting the side shoots. Once you are a week into flower remove it and let the good tops grow and get rid of the rest
You will be able to remove the screen at any time that way.
Do not defoliate unless it's for a little air movement or to open up the middle. I like to take some off in front of the fan so that air can get under the canopy.
You can take off a large sun leaf if it is growing to the middle of the plant but leave any that are on the outside. In fact leave as many as you can on the plant. They will pick up reflected light in your grow space and are used to supply nitrogen into flower so, bigger healthier buds.
It looks like you have got them dialed in now and they are drinking and feeding. Try to be as consistent as possible with your schedule and be careful when you change to your flower fert. that you don't over feed.
