So welcome to my attempt at a grow journal for the first time simultaneously with my first ever grow....

I read for about four years and procrastinated an procrastinated during procrastinating however we are finally under way

I am only near a comnputer once a week unless for emergancy,so i will be communicating mostly via phone however major posts such as journal updates photo's and problem solving stuff i'll make the trip out here

I will try include as many high quality photo's further along the track however for now i could only find my crappy digital an with the money i just invested on this equip a cam is out of budget!!

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Today is day 4 of the Grow... i planted 39 Mixed bag Seeds, and 5 Pure Afghani's (sourced from afghanistan thanks to a soldier ;-) there was no germination process just soaked them in ph balanced water for approx an hour and a half and then planted them in nicely damp but well drained cups keeping them under the 1000 watts 24/0 until flowering where i will drop to 18/6

I have a Sunmaster 1000 Watt HPS and Metal Halide Lamps for their appropriate tents however right now i will stick to one area at a time before full grow shots!!

I have 2 Hydroponics Aluminum Oxford Cloth Indoor Grow Room Tent 2.8mx1.4mx2m

Air Conditioning, Air Circulation (intake/outtake exhaust fans)

Growing in Canna Coco with Perlite and clay rock pebble layer at the bottom....

Co2 enrichment will begin with flowering ( as will SCROG, Fimming, LS Training, The ever controversial defoliation ( of sorts) tying the leaves back as apposed to removing them completely)

Ok so here's some snaps...

now the two in the 1 cup is either

a.i was really high and planted two seeds incredibly close to eachother in a couple of random spots accidently
or
b. twins....

what ya'll think what should i check for and how to fix? in lamens too i'm a bit simple to be honest

HAPPY GROWING SMOKING TEACHING RESEARCHING TO ALL

i would wait till week 2 of flowering to start adding co2.... or sell it. Scientist say the atmosphere today is higher in co2 and lower in o2 then 100 years ago

800px-Mauna_Loa_Carbon_Dioxide-en.svg.png

plants will become root-bound around the 5th node in cups that small i suggest transplanting them in quart pots.

id say your not getting much advice because so far so good. im currently using rubbermaid tubs and fluorescent lights but ive been saving money to get a similar set up to yours (3x3x6 tent, 400w hid, fan & filter). i noticed you got a cool tube with a reflector, i plan on getting the same. the cool tube allows you to get the light closer to your plants which is important cuz the farther away the less the lumens. if you got a hanging system you can lower your lights, get them as close as possible while keeping the plants healthy. was your tent easy to set up?

From my time growing you need 12 hours of darkness for flower.18/6 will keep them in veg. Props to the soldiers for the hook up.

the one im looking at is 3x3x6.5. i saw a bunch that were about the size you suggest but im gonna be using a 400 mh/hps cool tube w/reflector, so i figure about a foot for the light fixture, a foot for the pots, and about a foot distance between the plants and light...thats 3 feet there. so i need the 6.5 foot tall tent, giving my plants about 3.5 feet to grow. plus the tent is 9 sq. feet, perfect for a 400w hid. i think a 5.5 foot tent may be a little too short for my plans. but thanks for the heads up. the only thing im not sure of is how may fans ill need. 1 for the cool tube, 1 inline fan w/carbon filter for exhaust. i wonder if ill need another fan for intake (obviously a lower cfm than the exhaust) if the temp will get too high.

i assume this means you have an intake and an exhaust fan? whats your fan, heating & cooling situation hiiipower?

My last setup I just used a 6" fan to pull the hot air out of my tent through one side of the cooltube and had a hole for intake, but no fan for intake.

CHECK CRAIGSLIST FOR TENTS. i HAVE PURCHASED 4 OF THEM FROM THERE. THE BIGGEST BEING 10X10 AND THE MOST I PAID WAS $120 I BOUGHT ONE THAT HAD A COUPLE HOLES IN THE CORNERS FROM STRETCHING OVER THE FRAME. BUT IT WASNT NOTHING THAT SOME GOOD REFLECTIVE TAPE COULDNT PATCH UP! iT IS A 4X4 TENT THAT CAME WITH NEXGEN 400/600 DIGI BALLAST. ONLY PAID $70 FOR BOTH OFF CRAIGSLIST.

in my 4x4 i had 7 plants under a 600 i just had a oscilating fan pushing the air between the hood and canopy and a 8 inch vortex fan from walmart sucking out all the hot air. Thats what i like about the tents it is a lot easier to control the environment.

so you have a fan in the sleeve on 1 side, ducting from that sleeve to 1 side of your cool tube, the cool tube is enclosed fixture, then on the other side of your cool tube you have ducting to the other sleeve, where the hot air escapes. this is all enclosed, so how does it exhaust hot air from the inside of your tent? i get that it cools the bulb, thereby lowering the temp, but when i was figuring stuff out for my tent, thats what i assumed would happen with the cool tube. whats your average temp/humidity?

fuck craigslist. i bought a trampoline off there and i asked the lady multiple times, was there anything wrong with it? and of course when i got it home, there was something wrong with it (tear in the mat that got larger with every bounce) i should have checked it out better, i know, but still...fuck craigslist...ima by mine new. thanks for the advice, its a good idea, ive just had bad history with craigslist

i agree, your plants progress is all up to you. i love it! i am growing in rubbermaid tubs, and i have used the knowledge i learned while looking up grow tents to make a pretty decent rubbermaid setup, but its time to upgrade. i get about an oz per plant now, so i can only imagine what i'll yield from a bad ass grow tent, bad ass 400 watt hid cool tube w/reflector hood, foxfarm medium & nutes, and now that i was recently laid off, 100% of my care and attention. whats your average temp/humidity?

No, not ducting on both sides. Just 1...that way air can be pulled out of my whole tent. Goes from one side of the cooltube, out the sleeve to the fan. The other side of the cooltube is open so I can pull air from the whole tent. :hump:

grab a 4x4 tent get ur self a digi 4/600w swtitchable ballast an veg under the four and flower under the six. i perfer a sealed hood as it makes it easier to control the heat in the room.
