First grow, Indoor, Soil

Hi,

My main question is how to grow 18 plants in a 4x6 ft area for best yield. SOG, SCROG, or other?
They are currently in 6 inch pots and are about 6" tall in a 4x4 flood tray (will add an extra 2x4 tray if necessary, but that hits the space limit).

I have no SOG or SCROG experience, but I do use a Mylar tent with limited space, so I'd imagine SOG would give you the best results since you're using 6 inch pots. 18 plants can be packed into your tent and get enough light exposure on the foliage to give you nice buds.

From what I see with a few SCROG setups, many growers leave a lot of foliage under the screen, out of the path of the light. That is actually wasted light, because the more light that shines upon the full surface area of the leaves, the more "energy" going to flower production.

Fewer leaves exposed = Less energy for the plant?

If you SCROG it, it will take more time for your plants to grow out and fill up the screens, so the SOG would allow you to harvest faster, without sacrificing quantity.

But then again, that's just my $.02!

Thanks mr narley. Was thinking of putting them into 10 inch pots, 18 would just fit the 4 x 6 space. I just wonder if I have too few plants for a SOG or too many for a Scrog. Seems like most SOG grows have large numbers of plants in the space (though I've seen some mentions of 1 plant per sq ft.) and SCROG growers could fill that space with just 2 or 3. I should have thought this through a bit more beforehand...
In the meantime, they are Green Crack clones (hate that name), Sativa dominant. Currently under a T5 4 banger, 24/7. Will put under 2 1000 watt lights when the time comes.

From the looks of your plants, I'd say SOG is definitely the best option. Do you think they'll grow mainly one top cola-each? If you plan on letting them grow and branch out a bit more, a SCROG would probably work better. Do you plan on upping the pot size before 12/12 or will you keep them in 6" pots?

They're looking good by the way! And I love Green Crack myself (yeah, and hate the name too).

u could do a scrog on that no worry install a screen about 1 inch above where u plants r now spred the plants out a bit more get anothr light tho or a hps and u could fill that entire area with buds if u doing a sog u will not yield as much

Thanks, happy with the way they look so far. Probably will go to 10" pots before flower. Still researching best route (sog/scrog) for the number and space.
