first grow in dwc question about wattering

here it is, i have a dwc with two 5 gal buckets. i have germed and planted two seeds in rockwool and have been wattering the rockwool 5 to 3 times a day, as it would get dry. until the seed sprouted then i wattered 3 times a day.

question, It's 4 days from sprout and the rockwool seems to have extra moisture now? i mean i don't need to watter it tonight. could this be because the root has reached to the watter? or at least the hydrotion rocks that are getting wet from the bubble disk in the buckets. and since the root has gone this far down it is acting like a wick keeping the rockwool moist? i ask because don't the roots need some break from moisture at times? i mean should i remove the rockwool cube and plant straight into hydrotion rocks at this point?

i just wonder as i am only going to watter as needed, and i don't need to it seems. so i thought i would make sure this sounds right to other people. mainly to make sure i'm not fucking up my first grow.

naw rock wool sucks up water almost like a sponge. don't water so much get light shields and they will stay moist longer. i have not water mine in 2 weeks from germ and i foilar feed once a week. but i have the light shields to protect them from getting light that evaporates the water

good luck

i'm an idiot. that's what i did. i put up light shields just this afternoon! that must be why my cubes are still moist. funny i did it so that way i don't grow mold i didn't think it would make it to where i didn't have to water as much.

oh as another question. i think i have read that the water when it's just sprouted should be going to the bottom of the net basket with hydrotion rocks. i'm woundering if i should remove some water soon or is that a good place and it will use the water as it grows? i'm not planning on adding any to the res right now as it has a total of 12.5 gallons throughout the entire system, and like i said the water is to the bottom of the net basket. oh and my avrg temp is around 80-85 during the day, as this may or may not impact the plant on how much water it takes up, so i thought i'd let you guys know.

any help is appriciated.

oh and thanks koabear for the tip.

bump what is the water level suppose to be in a 5 gal dwc bucket? as right now it goes up to the bottom of the net pot? is this right? or should i lower it? remember they just sprouted 4 days ago.

As long as you have air bubbles going in that thing you don't need to worry about whether or not the roots grow into the water, thats what you want it to do, thats when it will really take off and grow really fast. Keep water below bottom of pots, add new fresh water every day/days depending on how fast the plant is using the water.
