First grow getting close. (I hope)

Foxtails are something sativas do sometimes .... looks freaky , but smokes fine.

I called them FINGER BUDS. Calyx STACKS on each other from genetics , heat issues ( bud tries to cool itself ) , or light stress . Hopefully it isn’t a result of the environment from your grow.

Buds elongate instead of fattening.

Thanks Budz,

Looks like it might be a genetic trait, combined with a sudden increase in light.

Opened up my "300watt" LEDs and found 2x 50watt drivers in each. At maybe 80% efficiency I probably had 160watts of actual output.

I recently added 80 watts if diy strips and seem to have doubled the light output at canopy according to my phone based lux meter.

I guess the plants noticed

Not to worried, I've been assured by others that I'm gonna yield exactly one pound

Hey @Sandman81

That's a beautiful SCROG, these crazy Sativas aren't easy to manage indoors, well done!
I love that fox-tailing and the buds look frosty.8-)

Is there no way to know which strain it is? I looks like a haze but I can't be for sure.

It depends on the kind of effect you want. You could harvest it right now for an energizing effect or let it go for 7 to 10 more days for a combination of high and stone..

Cheers mate,

To determine when its done, use a scope to look at the trichomes. When the heads are turning amber (dark) they are getting done. Some like to harvest with just a few amber and most are cloudy or milky, some prefer to go more towards the amber side for a more stoney effect. I like the milky personally.

Here is a pic ( from web ) to giveyou an idea of some “ finger buds “ .

There is nothing wrong with the GENETIC trait version . But if from environment of grow ( lights , heat , etc ) then you need to double check the grow environment overall .... which can be easily checked by doing a DRY RUN without any plants running the room , tent or whatever to see operating temps , rh , air flow etc. will fall .

As far as lighting ...shoot for 30watts PER square foot OR BETTER.
Example: say a 3x3 space .... about 250 to 350 watts ( actual )
Take the light maker ( panels ) claims with a grain of salt.

Later if you continue to grow your own meds ... look at CMH - Cree cobs - Vero - citizen - quantum boards - timber grow lights. Even led strip builds.

Lurk the grow journals and see first hand which light might work for you.

You REALLY get what you pay for when it comes to lights.

Thanks for the kind words to all that have posted.

Current trichomes shot attached

I think Im happy with the space as it sits.

The 80w of bridgelux strips I've recently added should help the next run quite a bit. Figure I'm at 40 watts per sq ft.

Temps and Rh are manageable.

Watching trichomes daily. I'll probably harvest in the next week or so.

Overall I'm stoked for my first attempt. I took an early sample a couple weeks ago and dried it to a stable 58% and its definitely an uplifting buzz.

My drying curing area is sitting at 40% and 15c
My plan is to hang for 3-7 days and jar/burp followed by bovedas for long term storage.

I can see it's progressing for sure, just some hints of a few ambers starting. Just watch it every day until you see what you want. Some strains finish all of the sudden, like in one day/night cycle going to mostly amber. I had a GDP that liked to do that and you had to catch it real quick.

Im prepared for any day now.
I'm sure I'll have questions once I chop

I'll keep this crop for the wake and bake stash.

I've got a Kush that's been vegging since November that I played with lst on. It has about a 2'x2' canopy full of tops. I'll start a new thread for her once these ones are done.

Cheers

Speaking of harvest and cure.

Thoughts discusion on temp/humidity.

I have3 available spots to hang for dry.
A: 50f 50%rh
B: 60f 40%rh
C: 45f 30%rh

I can add heat to a&b

Although efficiency is nice, quality is the #1 concern. Which would you good folks choose?

Also, does an extra dark period before harvest really make a difference?

Thanks

I want to save a few 1/2oz jars long term (years even) to compare with future crops.
I have 8 gram 58%bovidas I plan to use. Good idea?
