Four years, I did my waiting like Sirius fucking Black before coming back around to the grow-op setup. This time it is quite minimalist grow since budget is strict AF, however I'm still taking this just as seriously as in the past.
Only a few things are missing, the grow starts next month as soon as I'll have everything together so for now it's a rundown of the equipment I'll be using and setting up. Dis gon b gud...
SETUP
The tent is a neat 60x60x140cm (23,6x23,6x55,1in) Hydro Shoot, not too small but not too big either for my budget.
The reservoir is a 35 liters (9,2 US gallons, 7,6 UK gallons) tote, the fucker however was see through so I painted the bastard black and the lid got two holes for two plants but I'll be adding four more holes into it once I'll consider growing more than just two plants at a time, the lid will be covered in aluminum tape next month to reflect heat and light produced by the MH/HPS bulb.
There will be four circular airstones in the tote with a pump that pushes out 10 liters (2,6 US gallons, 2,1 UK gallons) of air per minute, figured that's plenty for two plants if the airstones are placed as close to the roots as needed. The netpots are 8 centimeters (3,1 inches) that'll house 3,5 (1,3 inches) centimeter rockwools in the middle with hydro pellets, these feckers will do their darnest to support the plants I'll grow in them or die trying.
250w MH and HPS will be used with a complimenting LUMii MAXii reflector, with the size of the grow in question and experience I can't exactly get a bigger nor badder light in the sucker without committing financial suicide or risking my tent spontaneously combusting like the fucking Hindenburg.
STUFF FOR NEXT PURCHASE
The water pump isn't anything that'll send rockets to the moon, either one pumping 350 liters per hour (92 US gallons, 76 UK gallons) adjustable that figured would be plenty enough or then one pushing 150 liters (39 US gallons, 32 UK gallons).
Although with an in-line fan with push of 194 cubic meters per hour (which is math I can't convert into horse bladders or dillygoos with the apps in hand) the bigger and badder lights were a possibility, financially however is an entirely different thing.
The active carbon filter can take around 240-360 cubic meters per hour, random question about this though... In-line fan will push below 240 cubic meters, would that mean the exhaust air won't get through or am I worrying about nothing?
For ventilation I'll purchase air duct that has noise suppressing padding, figured that's the least I should get for decibel control since the filter is bound to affect the amount of noise that'll come out of the grow but I'm willing to hear advice here. Extra smell cover will be provided by a ONA mist dispenser, I'm not taking any goddamn chances with smell...
This is basic shite, pH meter, TDS meter and lastly a humidity/temperature meter.
NUTRIENT CORNER
Figured it would be best to use Advanced Nutrients line here since they're specifically made for growing da herb, but I'm not getting carried away with the brand because I'm not made of money and I can't make money in my country by selling my blood or seminal fluid, no one is more disappointed here than me knowing that with my skills of the wrist I can't churn bucks out as well. SO, I'll be using the pH Perfect grow, bloom and micro like you'd expect. For additives I figured to at least include Voodoo Juice for root growth plus health and Big Bud, you can make suggestions on additives BUT keep them at completely essential levels and understand I'm not going to buy the whole arsenal if I'm not promised a magic genie and a harem of twelve virgins on the house. The base nutrients have been ordered but the additives are yet to be purchased.
I'll be uploading pics when I get to putting the entire grow into shape.
UPDATE EDIT:
Due to sudden discovery of another seedbank with strains containing more information from reliable sources, the strain won't be another obscure OG Kush strain among the hundreds, instead I'll be growing Dinachem.
TRAINING INCLUDING:
Since this is my first grow I'll detail here the training and thingy-mabops I'll throw at the grow.
The plan is to wait until the girl has produced 3-5 nodes and then FIM it instead of topping, less stressful and with the grace of the old gods I'll get four stems which would eliminate two tops.
This gentle surgical mutilation is then followed by our old favourite LST, which will be a fun challenge since we're dealing with bubbleponic DWC so I can't exactly stab just anything into the lid that'll hold the bondage in place.
This then leads into training the plant to fill up a SCROG with flowering sites, the SCROG will also fulfill the purpose of controlling how the plant goes through flowering by controlling the stretching.
Now comes the potentially dangerous part, defoliation. Since this is my first grow ever, I want to avoid using this completely if at all possible. When we're talking smaller grows, a plant that loves to grow a tad too much leaves and let them linger for flowering can become a problem for airflow and light penetration. Therefore I'm going to do everything to avoid this, a dehumidifier and oscillating fan inside the tent should help me avoid going all Jason Vorhees at the hippie community. If it comes down to it, I'll consult the jury in the forums right here on how to approach with defoliation.
