right ive done all the researching i can handle and ive figured out the best way to learn is through trial and error so....im taking the just get on with it method n see where it takes me! all feed back is much appreciated so please feel free to comment or criticize how ever you feel!

i have set my grow room up with a 600w super hps and using 10 northern lights which are goin through germination now and im 11 hours in, im using bio bizz all mix soil, and bio bloom for later in he grow...will i need anythin for the initial grow??

im germinating in wet but not soaked paper towels and are bein kept in a dark place so il let you no how these turn out :)
il be keeping a weekly update as soon as they are out of the first couple days above the soil

will i need to PH balance the soil before planting the seedlings?? ive heard mixed opinions about this some say yes some say no??

wsh me luck!!!

first off 10 plants are over kill for you light an if you use big pots, 2nd you should have git bio bizz light mix but thats ok you just need to work your soil a lil so it dont burn ur girls up an dont give any grow or bloom boosters till week 3 and if ur going to go with 10 girls move the around every day so all of thim git good light...but other than that good luck NL damn good plant to start with

Well ive heard mixed things again with how many girls I can fit under a 600 some people say its too many n some say it will be fine so yea I probably have a few too many....no turning back now since their in germination but il keep that in mind on my second run!! I didnt think to much when it came to the soil either :/ I guess il learn a lot through this first run!

I'm using 7 inch pots and theres plenty of space in the room for them so il turn them all around every 12-24 hors so they get enough light

Thanks guys the info is very much appreciated!!

Also.....when they have germinated how long should I need before placing them under the light?

How high should the light be from the ladies?

Should I PH test the soil before I plant them??

Any advice would be great
Thanks!

How high should the light be from the ladies?
With CFL'sa few inches is ok. With a HPS put your hand under the light. If it burns after a few minutes your too close.
Autos do best in 5 gal pots and do not like to be transplanted.

Thanks po boy!

Hey Bullwinkle I heard you should let them get a couple days above ground before placing them under a hps, in your experience is this true? Is there a chance or good possibility I could harm them if I go ahead with putting them under immediately?
As for the 5 gallon pots I dont think I would have adequate room for 10 but on my next run I will probably go for 6 in 5 gallon pots coz again I have heard many people say the same thing!

37 hours into germination and 1 has cracked open and another is showing signs of breaking but 8 are still as they were....still early yet tho so il see hoe they are in the morning!

Thanks again!

i think ull be ok with all that.... but for ur soil i would ph it bio bizz is some rich soil i used it forever but can get it any more here..... for ur pots 7 inch is fine but if i was u i wouldint go with 5 gallon pot with NL, iv grown prob 20 or more NL and 3 gallon works best in 5 gallon they seem to take the sativa side were the buds stay small but still get alot of thim, 3 gallon they take the indica side buds get fat an alot of thim.. for lights cfls about a ince or so, hps just like bullwinkle said but if u have a cool tube with good fan on it u can get as close as u want just about it...and u can put ur girls under light right away

you should look into scrog growing method i think 10 nl auto's in 7 " would fill a 3x3 screen nicely

Thanks Low420 3 gallon pots would work a lot better in the space I have so il go with that in a couple months. My light isn't a cool tube unfortunately so Im guessing keep it a lil higher maybe around 12-15 inches above the girls?

Hey tek, whats a scrog method? Never heard of this before! Il take a look into this when I finish work, my grow space is 6ft x 3ft x 6ft high

Ok I was a bit unsure on the distance from light to seedlings should be so il give that a go, I'm germinating in paper towels, seem to be doin ok at the mo

scrog is screen of green you take netting stretch it over the canopy to better utilize space
it would work only problem i see is watering you could use a long funnel and leave a mesh of the net open over every pot so you dont miss any second thought sea of green would probably be easier

I see il have a look into that method! Cheers mate, anyone got any idea how long a seed will last until it needs planting??? 7 of my seeds have full tap roots, 1 is half way and the other 2 are nearly cracked open, will they last 12 hours???? Need to no asap as im a couple miles from the grow room so if they dont last I need ti move on it tonight!!
Thanks

Well then tek.....ive had a lil look at the scrog method and it sounds very interesting to say the least! I'm still trying to get my head around this method but from what I hear your spot on the money especially for the area I have! Anyways I'm goin to study this a bit more and find out as much as I can about it and after this run, when I have abit more knowledge, I think I'm guna give it a shot! Thanks again tek!

UPDATE: Ok so all 10 NL made it through germination, and to be honest I thought some wudnt make it seein as I have barely any knowledge of what I'm doin!
All of them have been potted in pre-watered all mix soil, probably around 800ml to a litre each, ive decided to give them some time til the break through the soil to put them under lights, just something I want to try.

If anyone has any tips please share lol
Cheers!
