Hybrids can express their parentage in a variety of ways. I was actually thinking about the bagseed when I posted that...but your SD are also sort of wide leaved. Never having grown out that strain...I really hate to comment. They might yet reveal their sat heritage. Hope so. SD is a great high.

Those look really good. But being newer packs of sour d. More than likely it's not actual sour d. Really unless you get older packs of ajs sour d. More than likely it's not. Not that what you're growing wont be good. Those are way too indica dom. Atleast its not pure. But either way your doing great for first grow.

Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated. And yea, it's definitely not the real deal. I've never had sour diesel but if this stuff is half as good as I heard the real sour diesel is, then I think I will be very happy.
 
Update. One is growing a little faster than the others so I got her tied down some more. I accidentally used miracle gro perlite in one of my pots. I wonder if that had any effect. Also, the one I got tied down is topped at the 2nd node while the others were topped at the 3rd. Just a little experiment I'm doing. Anyway, the others look nice and bushy. Nothing wrong with Miracle Gro perlite. Scotts and Miracle Gro are the same company. They have a bad rep in the ganja community...but mostly because so many noob growers killed plants with it.

Your manifold training looks good. Been considering that as an option...but it's so much better/easier with seeds vs clones. It's the alternate branch spacing thing.

Yea i was just a little worried cuz I think it said it has extra time released nutrients in it or something. I wasn't sure how that would affect the plants. But so far so good!
 
Update: well, what was once me just trying to keep my plants alive had turned into an experiment lol. Thanks to the advice of some other growers on here, I got the free sample of mega crop. So I decided I would give one plant the mega crop, give one the fox farm nutes, and the other is getting plain water ( unless it desperately needs nutes later on, I won't make it suffer lol.) I gave them both half strength for now.

This is the fox farm. To be fair, it was already a little bigger than the others before I fed it. It got big bloom and grow big from fox farms.

They are just exploding with growth at this point. And they are strong too!! I've had to adjust my methods of tying them down. Not much else to report right now. One plant has a few yellow tips. Yellow lower leaves are a clue that she needs some food. So you may just have to relent.

Yea, I won't make her suffer lol. Just wanted to see how long it could go. I always thought yellow tips were nute burn. Guess that's why I'm a noob lol. Maybe I read too many horror stories of excess nutes... Been scared to add too much.

I have to say Dude that it's sort of different posting on your thread. You did those manifolds like a pro...yet you still have typical noob questions.

I have no doubt that you'll be a master grower some day soon. You have the touch.

Nute burn is somewhat related to transpiration in that as the plant draws new water upward to top leaves...it also brings nutrients. Usually you'll see not yellowing but browning and crispy tips. And sometimes along the edges.

So it sure sounds like a little food will take care of that yellowing.

PS I think I met you with a lamp question...right? Just wanted to give you feedback on that. I got outbid on the Gavita de 750 but I did pick up an LED and a 315 cmh...so my plants will still get good light...

That sucks you got outbid but I'm glad you got some good lights. I was looking at CMH also but I couldn't pass on the gavita for $150. I hear those CMH produce top notch bud though!

That's a hell of a price...I would have had to pay twice that...plus shipping from Alaska. lol

I picked up the led on ebay. LumiGrow Pro 650. It was a pretty good deal and will allow me to get my feet wet using leds.

I'm not an expert grower. Just been doing it for so long that I picked up a few things. I still tend to do things the old school way.

Just a quick update for my own personal reference.

I checked them today and the plant being fed fox farm nutes was the only one that needed water. Last time it got plain water, so this time I gave it half strength nutes again.

They are all still growing well. Nothing worth photographing though...
 
I am looking for some helpful input now. It appears I have made a rookie mistake.

Thanks to @JohnDee for pointing out what appeared to be a mag deficiency in one of my other plants (I planted some bagseed while I waited for these in the mail; they have since been scrapped), I did a little research.

I have been using distilled water because my pH was over 8 out of the tap. I know some people say don't pH in soil, but a pH that high worried me. So I used some distilled water which was already a pH of right around 6.5.

I didn't realize I needed to add cal-mag to it. Thankfully I added some cal-mag last watering.

But do u guys think I should just use my tap water and use pH down to get it where I want? Or should I continue distilled with cal-mag? Or does it not matter? I would hate to put it in as it is and shock my plants or something from a drastic pH swing.

I have since picked up some Epsom salts too, just in case.

Edit - I posted this in the newbie section just in case nobody sees this...

I'm a little bit insomniac so am at my computer in the middle of the night...I'll give you a few thoughts.

Best to determine a water strategy and stick with it. If your water is too high in ph and ppm you can go with RO or distilled. Or you can merely dilute your tap water a bit. Say two gallons of tap plus one gal of RO. That would lower your ph a bit while still leaving plenty of ca and mg in it. Whatever you decide...stick with it.

Once you have the CA++ added in (either from RO+calmag or tap water) then if you still need extra Mg I like to use epsom salts. Doesn't mess with Ca.

PS The soil should buffer the ph but if you do ph it...shoot for 6.5
