First Grow: DWC Method + LED with Jorges Diamonds #1, Lemon Skunk, & Hashplant Kush.

Hey everyone,

Welcome to my first grow. I will be growing with a ProSource led 90 watt ufo illuminator and a little cfl supplemental lighting in my closet.

I have began my first grow after researching here at RIU for over a month and thought I'd start up a grow journal on it which I will be updating.

Starting off with these 3 strains: Jorges Diamonds #1, Lemon Skunk, & Hashplant Kush.

My closet grow setup:

Grow box made of 1/4" wood. Dimensions are roughly 40" wide/across, 48" high, and 20.5" deep. Entire inside of box is covered in mylar and I have a 4 inch hole in top of box where a 4" inline fan pulls air out of the box into the 4" carbon can filter that is mounted on top of the box.

A 6 inch King fan sits on a little shelf inside the box to add some airflow inside.

Three 5 gallon buckets with snap on mesh pot lids, 3 air pumps, 4 27-watt cfls 5000k (100 watt equivalent), a 90 watt 5-band ufo illuminator light by ProSource(which is in route).

I will update again after I get the new led ufo light setup in the box.

Got the new 90 watt illuminator LED light in the box and took a few pics of the now complete setup. Also changed out the cfls to the smaller 13 watts for now.

Babies are still only about a week old or so...

More updates coming as the babies get rolling...

Are you're 13 watt bulbs still 5000k? or 2700k? Isn't the 5000k better for veg'ing? (I'm not doubting you, just curious.) Awesome setup btw.

Yeah, I put 4 13-watt 5000k cfls in there with the LED now. Not sure if that's enough cfls or not. I can put the 27 watters back in easy enough... Thanks. Will update when they get some growth.

How exactly does the filter and fan work in this setup? Where is it positioned in (or around) the grow? Trying to figure out how you set this up to best help you with your temp issues mentioned in your other thread.

My appologies... I just realized you had posted in this thread when I came to update it.

I ended up taking off the 4" inline fan that was connected to the 4" carbon can filter. I did this because that fan was actually very dissapointing to me as it wasn't hardly pulling any air. Also, I had unplugged the 4" fan and something happened to it, it locked up somehow. So, it's now a piece of junk sitting off in the corner.

I also took off the door and will rely on the black plastic to seal off the front. I figure this will be better to get fresh air into the box also. I covered up the 4 inch hole up on top of the box where the fan/filter were previously.

Also removed the cfls for now and am running just the 90watt ufo.

Now, I've got the temps going from about 81 -84 degrees.

Small update with crappy pics.(no cfl lighting makes led pics hard to see. Sorry!) I will have to get some cfl lighting back in there for pics next time, but you can see a little and I don't have time right now to redo them.

Ok...

Hashplant x Kush is the oldest and biggest so far. It's at least several days older than the Lemon Skunk and has been rooted in the water for 2 days at least now. The Lemon Skunk is just now showing roots out the bottom of the netpot and should be in the water soon!

I had a heat issue which may have stunted my girls and it seems to have killed my Jorges Diamonds #1. I have left it in the 5 gallon pot for now hoping for a recovery but it's not doing anything that I can tell. I may end up putting the Easy Ryder I have just recently started that is sitting in front of the Lemon Skunk into the spot of Jorges Diamonds if she can't recover.

The grow is still going but it has changed a bit. I am on day 12 flowering. You can see it here a few posts down...

Well.. I have had some setbacks and changes made during this first grow but it is still alive and kicking. The plants flowering are under a 400w and 250w hps side by side.

I am on day 19 flowering today and took a few pics with my cell phone. My apologies for the quality of the images.

Strains in flower: Hashplant Kush, Red Dragon, Purple Haze #1, and Lemon Skunk

I've got some yellow leafs on a couple of my girls and I'm hoping it's nothing to worry much about. I just did a complete nute change 2 days ago so I should be good on the PH and nutes. Here's a few pics from today, day 19 flower. How do they look so far??

Do I need to add more nutes? Is that what would cause the yellowing of leafs?? I stepped it up by 1/3 teaspoon on this last nute change..

nice set up bro check outmy lemon skunk its goin pretty well now i got it under a 400 watt high pressure sodium light i got it on a 12-12 cyle its on the 5th day of flowering its my first time so send me some messages if u have any tips for me
