First grow, coco coir, help PLEASE!

So I have a few different strains growing in a 3x3 tent with a 600w MH bulb with an air cooled reflector. Was in a rush to get started so I purchased a booster fan to save money nd that's what I'm using to vent the hot air out of the tent. Planted the seeds I ordered two weeks ago nd I can tell very easily I'm already making mistakes. The growth seems extremely stunted from other examples I've looked at and also the leaves are very light green which can't be right. I currently use a soil pH tester but the thing works like crap...can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I water everyday but sparingly bcus I started the seeds using 100% coco in 1 gal smart pots which I now know was too big to start with.

BTW haven't started feeding nutes yet...was waiting until the 3rd week until I began. Tried monitoring nd adjusting pH using the soil tester but the thing is making me screw up bcus it doesn't seem to matter what the pH of the water I feed with is the soils pH is always 6.5-7+

I'm no expert on the matter but after reading a lot over the later 6 months I'd be concerned that you've planted far too many seeds for the grow area..

There's no problem, just that your plants will all be fighting for light and airflow will be less once they all grow.

As for the grow I have chosen to go with traditional soil methods until I understand the Cannabis plant a little better - I would've thought planting just Coco Coir would require some sort of nutrients added for germination.

Also watch things don't dry out during the first week or 2.

After a quick google it looks like you need to add a small amount of nutes - nitrogen heavy for germination and increase for vegetation.

Ive read ur not supposed to feed even in coco alone until 2-3 weeks after germinating...which is why I haven't yet. Nd as far as the grow space the plan was to keep a mother plant nd use the dog method so I could maximize the amount of plants for my space...all of these won't be kept. I'm waiting until the show sex one way or another.

Hopefully someone else has more of an idea - I just assumed coco was just used in addition to other things...

BTW I meant the SOG method of growing lol......Im high...

using coco is along the lines of me using pro-mix. There aren't any nutrients in it. After the first week (5 days) I am using half strength nutes every other feeding. If you were using the soil method like happy frog or some other fox farms product then yes wait to feed. Both our methods are considered passive hydro look it up.

Thanks...actually makes perfect sense, idk why I even believed the seedlings wouldn't need nutes in coco

How did you get them that big without nutes, I'm impressed!

More light will reduce the stretch, but also increases your costs

I'm already running my 600w MH at 100%...so was thinking maybe jus put the light closer

Just don't burn them - they won't smoke up like a toke just yet

as its your first grow, maybe ditch coco and go for soil???
its do-able, but starting with coco where you have to slowly introduce nutes, it holds not much water, and its a bloody long earning curve, you have your ladys poped up in coco, as a first time grower i would think you will run into a world of problems, i would suggest getting a bag of biobizz all mix, transpanting your plants, and only feeding water until 21 days or when the leaves start to yellow a tiny bit, then feeding half strengh veg nutes, slowly building up to flowering, then switch. i have done a couple of coco grows and i had problems from day one, it seemed every deficiency i managed to get through i had 2 more the next day and t carried on both grows until i transplanted them.... now i stick to soil, (biobizz all mix) there is alot of people out there who say it is too hot for seedlings but i have never had a problrm, i plant seeds in final pots, and the soil does most of the work, i just water/feed/watch/dry/cure/smoke and fly

You already know you started them in too big of containers - I start mine in 18oz. solo cups and transplant after about 3 weeks into a larger pot. I start with 1/4 strength nutes to begin with and gradually increase. If you use GH MaxiGrow and GH MaxiBloom or GH FloraNova with tap water ( assuming it's not too bad ), you will never have a deficiency problem. Just my opinion.

I already purchased canna A+B nutes nd a bottle of calmag plus nd my tap is terrible so I'll be using RO water. Will that be as efficient?
