First grow, CFLs, closet

Dude it would really be nice to see what you are up to! show us some recent pics (if you are still growing 1 & 2. Or at least let us know how much you got out of it, and what kind of smoke did you get!!!

Yeah, I moved it out of my PC case and back into my closet. The temperatures are way higher in my closet, so I have to keep it open all day. When it's open, temperatures hover around 25 degrees Celsius.

Good lookin grow Octagon. Im sad that you had to move them to a PC case, the height limitations are killer. If you HAVE moved them back to a closet, I had some advice for ya. You had mentioned using a piece of wood to block the door but it was a pain. Check out my grow and what I came up with, I used a white roller shade and mounted it on the inside of the door.

It blocks light VERY well and its white so it reflects. Its also very cool to pull the shade up to enter the room, feels like im in a science lab or something haha.

The link for my grow should be in my signature, i just started less than a week ago but the shade was only $11.97 at walmart and there are a couple pics if youre interested.

EDIT: oops I must have forgotten to read a page, I see that it is back in your closet. Having heat issues with those small lights eh? You using any fans? I find that keeping an oscillating fan in my closet keeps my temp around 75F/24C quite easily, and I have 5 lights currently. My closet space may also be a bit bigger but if you are really up for gettin your hands dirty you could cut a hole in the wall and vent it out under your house. Patching a wall back up is really quite easy when its time to move, thats my plan if things get too hot.

Currently at day 39, and I have some pics for you guys The last one is my one week old clone.

Any more progress OTA? Let us see some more pics. #1 is pretty big now, any buds yet. I'm broke as well with my first grow. Come check it out if you like. I'll be posting more pics soon.

Ah, sorry about the lack of updates, I'm really busy these days. Anyways, here's a quick update for you guys, pics were taken yesterday, at day 44:

Hey man, beautiful plants. Im gonna have to give my first grow a shot with just using CFL's, would you have done anything diffrent?(Higher Wattage? more lights?). ANyways man, grows looking good, and I definatley wanna keep tabs on this one.

I'd probably get more lights. And also, make sure your lights as close as they can be on the plant. And don't just keep them on top of the plant, but around it.

Hey Otacon, plants are looking great as usual... keep it up!!! Don't forget to add those pictures for those of us who do keep coming back!! I know it is a pain sometimes, but pictures just do the trick!

i don't think i could have agreed more with Otacon on this point!!! WIth CFL's every time you raise your lights (or for that matter lower your plants) you can tell that the proyection of the lights is not the best!!! It doesn't travel as well as you would like it... so i feel that the bottom leaves of my grow are "forgotten" to put it one way... Make sure you get plenty of CFL's (they are cheap to operate) and also make sure you get a variety regarding the light spectrum... ALso do place extra CFLs for the bottom part of the plant... and remember however, that the light will only be absorbed by a plant on the top side of the leave... so don't place the bulbs underneath the plants that will do little...

Looking good man, and Thanks InDippers, that really does help. Im researching in on where Im gonna grab my bulbs from cuz I kinda wanna grab all of em at once, and its lookin like my best bet is at Home Depot. Im gonna be tryin to grab 1 6500K warm white CFL, and then 1 2700K odor eliminating CFL both at 26W-27W. Im gonna have these in a PC case and try to keep it 2-3 inch above and around with some mylar inside. Think this may work, its only gonna be a single plant, and I just wanna keep it small, Id be willing to invest more on lights when I try a closet grow later on down the road. Thnks.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I suddenly had to move, so it took some time to set stuff up again etc. During the move I accidentally bent the top of the plant, but a bit of wire quickly fixed that. The plant is doing just fine, and is starting to fill with pistils quite nicely. Here are some pics for you guys, these are from today, day 54.

Also, and ideas how long until harvest?

Well, a quick update again. I tied some side branches to the main stem to raise them a bit closer to the lights. Also, I removed the wire that was holding my bent stem up, and the plant recovered completely Does anyone have an idea how long until harvest since this is my first grow and I have no experience whatsoever? I was hoping it'll take about 3-4 weeks, my birthday is coming up and there would be no better present then smoking my own

Hey Otacon looking good!!! I'm myself at that point (59 days), but my plants are not looking so big!!! they are getting lots of flowers, and are starting to get powdery white which is awesome.... i hope you get to smoke your pot by the time your bday comes... i certainly hope to be smoking mine!!!
