First Grow CFL Kings kush

Hey guys and gals on my first grow today is about day 16.

little after week 1 i saw the bottom 2 leaves twisting and i checked PH and my soil PH was coming at around 4!!

so after a day or two i transfer the plant to another red cup ditched all the crap soil and used Fox Farms Ocean Forest.

its been growing slowly since then and i think i should transplant soon. when i first transplanted the roots were at the bottom of the cup but not on the sides yet.

ive got a 5 gal smart pot and a 5 gal plastic bot not sure which one to use. but the plastic pot is 2-3in taller but the smart pot is wider so idk which to use.

regardless i'll still be using Fox Farms Ocean Forest with a little perlite and lime.

i am a little worried as its a little droopy i watered until a little water came though the cup yesterday morning and the top soil is dry already.

i think you might be overwatering, wait till the bottom inch of soil is dry. and use rainwater, its gonna be hungry for some nutrients pretty soon.

what are them other plants? lol

ok thanks mid way through the cup it was still just a little moist. hmm should i wait until Wensday to water?

the 2 bottom leaves that twisted are starting to yellow, i watered today as it was completely dry and i put my finger down the cup to make sure. (only enough so almost no water came out of the cup.) im wondering if i should transplant to the 5 gal tomorrow. think some superthrive would help?

I turned off the 85 watt soft white CFL yesterday because ever since i turned it on last weekend it seems like its not been growing very fast.

Well today it looks perkier, idk if its in my head.

Going to transplant this week for sure. the cup is getting dry and i just watered it yesterday.

this happens to all my plants, bottom leaves always fall off though, but its fine since theres new nodes and theyre healthy. im pretty sure its a nitrogen deficiency.
try not to add anything for now and just let her dry up until the bottom inch is dry(cut holes to check), it still looks like shes suffering although. get about 6 holes in the sides of you cups and about 5 on the bottom, make tunnels with a pencil, she'll dry up faster. and you might need a small amount of nutes now, id just use some rainwater and a little bit of fox farms(about a hand full per gallon) mixed into your rainwater, and if you have an air pump going into the reservoir itll help aerated the water and the microorganisms in the water can thrive and reproduce. if you want to be even more meticulous with making a compost tea, add a tea spoon of blackstrap molasses per gallon of water while the bubblers pumping into the water, your plant will really like this. only leave it under the bubbler for 2 days, you can also store it in a fridge for up to 4 days until smell changes(then its no good).

check pH constantly, also get a soil pH meter(they're probably 5 dollars, if not free with any purchase at a hydro store). also, transplant to a 3 gallon bucket with plenty of holes and fill the bottom 3 inches with 60% soil and 30% perlite or vermiculite. the rest of the soil should be a ratio like 80% soil and 20% perlite/vermiculite.

also, your gonna need better lighting soon, id say get a few t5 to t8 fluorescent tubes, all 6700K. youll need two, one for each side of the plant, and maybe get another one when it gets to a foot, you can put that one over the top. those cfls are good for popping seeds, but they wont get you too far in veg really, youd need about 13 to do as much as a regular t5 fluorescent.

transplanted to a 5 gal today, when i did t i saw the roots had grow a ton since even just a couple days ago they were all bunched up at the bottom. its looking better and better everyday.

nice man, keep posting pictures and make sure the buckets can drain fast enough.

No. They are not hurting the plant. The plant will use the energy from them before it discards them and they fall off. If you slightly tug on them and they stay put, leave them alone. When they are ready to come off, they will almost fall off without even pulling.
And yes, that would be the right section to top. BUT, I would wait a little longer... (But I am no expert by any means).

really thinking about getting that 250w HPS. i mean CFLs can be expensive when you buy 10 of em

I use the 125w CFL's , not to expensive and a lot less heat. I used 3 for veg and 5 for flower in my 4x4x7 tent. You could use half that

Looking good, i waited a week after transplant to water and today i gave it just the smallest bit of nutes. worked out to be less then 1/4 streanth

Looks good. I think being conservative with the nutes will pay off. You can burn a plant up quick by overdoing it.
