First Grow, Cardboard Box

  • I'm just experimenting with this one. I held on to a few reg seeds that came my way and decided to toss them in some dirt and see what happens, here's a couple pics 5 days later. I originally had them outdoors and brought them in when they sprouted so they were sprouted with natural light.

What you think? Also I noticed one of the plants is kind of growing into two..

Pardon my grammatical (sp?) and spelling errors, im slightly high

ya....growing multiple plants in the same container can make a lot of problems down the road and its unlikely that they would all live and i can tell you none would live if you tried leaving all of them in that container the entire life cycle. and your box is way too small for 5 plants. your going to need way more light for 5 plants as well and with those cfl lights your using you can keep the light a few inches from the plants.

also do u have any more lights. u are gonna want at least a few more in there if you are using 23w's. they will want more as they get bigger.

A little better for now, it's all I can really fit inside the box. This is just an experiment. I got another light in there as well, has a more yellow color than the brighter one. (It's 9w, the other bulb is 26w)

that will be sufficient for a couple days. u will need a couple more lights in there. get 3 more of them 26w light. 2700k and 6500k so orange and white. that will take you over 100w which will do you for a few weeks. you will be disappointed with the results otherwise.

Does anyone know how long aprox. it would take for a plant to die if it was going to after being transplanted into another container? It's been about 12 hours and all seems fine thus far despite the fact that I damaged some of the roots.

Each CFL should be nomore than a inch away from the plant! After the inch not all the lumens hit the plant. I would put 2 bulbs for each plant if you want them to grow bigger and give you a bigger yield.

Got a new bulb (48 watt). Seems like it runs a little hot but it should be fine for now, I lowered the lights a bit so they are closer to the plant, the 3rd light standing up in the back i keep slightly higher for what little reflection the foil is giving until I get better reflective material.

Thanks again for all the tips guys! Plants seem happier already lol

Well, the 48 watt CFL just broke while I was changing the grow box a little bit, sigh :( I'll try to buy one or two tomorrow, they are 12$ where I live).

changed the lights a bit, still sloppy will build new box tomorrow with these lights. The bulb at the top is a daytime reptile light for my ball python, going to try using it during nights to see if it improves growth at all
